"Jets Overhead"

“Yet another band to watch from Canada, this five piece deliver a fantastic no nonsense indie rock album in which every track seems to be a gem. Influences clearly range from the Dandy Warhols to Arcade Fire, Elliott Smith and even some Pink Floyd, and even through the trance rock parts, the hooks and melodies give it a real sheen and style.”
Rough Trade (London, UK)

“Boasting ‘a hypnotic take on trance rock,’ and bearing a certain Velvet Underground-iness, Bridges is an impressive, easygoing and mood-altering experience with a nostalgic feel that is a calculated combination of accomplished musicianship and intelligent production (courtesy of 54-40's Neil Osborne). Wanna trip out a bit? Spark a pinner and queue up Shadow Knows and White Out.
The Hour (Montreal, Canada)

"Bridges has slowly become my favorite album of the year. Because of its playability! I can put it on and it sets me free from the bullshit of life. Yet, it also rides shotgun when I'm excited and soothes me. It fits SO MANY moods. I can just put it on an endless loop and play it for hours!”
The Lefsetz Letter

“Tunes of infectious diversion and notable inspiration...swirly vocals, bursting guitar refrains and beautiful mid-song changes”
NOW Magazine (Toronto, Canada)

“Impossibly cool Canadians who readily admit to having Pink Floyd, the Velvet Underground, and The Who in their collection”
Hot Press (Dublin, Ireland)

“Some of Canada's — actually, I'll go out on a limb and say America's (North, Central, and South included) — finest rock. With influences ranging from The Mamas and the Papas to Pink Floyd, Jets Overhead's majestic sound gets me in the mood to grab a lighter, seat cushion, and cash to burn and cuddle up for a full-on rock show.”
3hive (USA)

"Fine listening for transatlantic flights."
Georgia Straight (Vancouver, Canada)

Bio

Boredom and Joy is the new single and album from Jets Overhead. It follows up on the success of 2009's No Nations; an album that brought the band to new heights with major festival performances at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, and the World Expo in Shanghai. Jets Overhead’s dreamy rock soundscapes have been featured on major network television programs including Bones, House, and Pretty Little Liars, and their previous single, “Heading For Nowhere,” charted nationally at Canadian alternative radio and received regular play on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic.

Produced by Emery Dobyns (Noah & The Whale, Travis, Patti Smith, Antony & The Johnsons), Boredom and Joy was recorded in New York at Stratosphere Sound and Flux Studios. The album features the band’s trademark vocal and melodic interplay, set against a lush backdrop of organic and sequenced instrumentation. Its lyrical themes explore an evolving relationship that moves quietly from certainty to uncertainty.

Formed in 2003, the band’s critical acclaim eventually led to a JUNO nomination (Canadian Grammy equivalent) in 2007 for New Group Of The Year. The band also got early attention in 2006 by developing a voluntary download and purchase model off jetsoverhead.com, over a year before Radiohead eventually popularized the model.

Jets Overhead have toured in Canada, the US, Germany, Ireland, and the UK, including shows with Broken Social Scene, The Temper Trap, The Stills, The Dears, Sam Roberts, Our Lady Peace, The Dandy Warhols, Powderfinger, 54*40, and The Frames. They have performed at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Neil and Pegi Young’s Bridge School Benefit, Sasquatch, SXSW, CMW, CMJ, and NXNE
