"After hearing something from his only recording, a homemade demo, everyone (including me) has been asking about this guy. Playing on the BMI Stage with a strong, supporting band I got some answers. He's a new, extremely talented singer/songwriter who will be getting a lot of attention." - Paste Magazine
New to the Austin music scene, singer/songwriter Jesse Woods is set to get noticed quickly with the upcoming release of his debute EP. Woods Americana credentials are likewise accentuated by his voice, a rich twang that alternates between carefree and desperate. - The Austin American Statesman
Listening to Jesse Woods is a constant reminder of how much I love good country music, and getting stoned - The 405 Radar
Haunting Texas outlaw folk meets Here We Go Magic, Bon Iver, even Fleet Foxes. - kenyadig.com
"He’s not signed to a label yet, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he was soon. Lyrically, while he deals with typical relationship fare, Woods mostly stays away from cliche, instead relaying stories of love and loss through clever turns of phrase. Highlights included “Sun Moonshine” and “Ugly Dress.” - Austin360.com - Austin360
"The banjo man channels the ghosts of Texas past." - Austin 360

Bio
With no money to pay a studio, Jesse Woods recorded an 8 song EP using only the microphone on his laptop. The songs were meant only to be footprints in the road to becoming a songwriter. Without playing a single show, Woods's songs were heard on Myspace by a DJ on Austin's 90.5 NPR station. Days later, he was asked to play his first show opening for AA Bondy. The show was received well by Austin music critics, as well as indie music fans. After playing to a sold out Stubb's audience in just his fifth appearance on stage, Woods was invited to play on the BMI stage at the 2009 Austin City Limits Festival. Since then, he has been playing shows on the west coast (Hotel Cafe, Spaceland in LA.) He has drawn comparisons to Jeff Buckley, Bon Iver, and Ray Lamontagne; he is ardent in his mission to honor the grass roots heroes before him, and not compromise the same vision that has inspired this brand new Buzz.
