Bio
Jeff Waters is a singer/songwriter/pianist in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Once described as the “musical descendant of Alicia Keys, Elton John, and The National”, Jeff began taking classical piano lessons as a child and gained a deep respect for classical composers such as Debussy, Chopin, and Beethoven. As a teenager, Jeff was a celebrated and accomplished pianist in his hometown of Baltimore, and continued his classical training at the nearby Peabody College of Music. While continuing with his classical instruction, Jeff began writing contemporary and non-classical songs over a decade ago.
His music draws from distinctly separate styles that blend together to make a unique yet familiar sound, which Jeff believes comes from his exposure to a variety of musical influences at an early age. His love of jazz, rock, soul, and alternative music are evident in his writing. His songs shift effortlessly between anthemic rock (“Sing Into the Night”) to electronic (“Barcelona”) to jazz-tinged reflections (“Philadelphia”), the latter of which has been the recipient of numerous regional songwriting awards and critical acclaim, and was called "melancholy perfection" by the Philly Post. Jeff released his highly-praised full-length debut, “Stations”, in September 2012, and is a regular performer throughout the mid-Atlantic region.
