Bio
Janyestown is a local performing band that specializes in bringing modern alt-rock music to everyone. We built our band on the idea that you don't have to go deaf to enjoy your favorite tunes.
We feature such oxymorons as acoustic guitars that can play through pedalboards, a live drum kit with silent-stroke heads and light-up, holey cymbals, a bass that sounds like a cello, and a violin that plays lead guitar. The music we choose to play features great dynamics, challenging structure, and harmonies that a mixologist would be proud of. We play songs that were never intended to be played by a group of three or four people. We feature covers of songs by Florence + The Machine, The Blue Man Group, The Foo Fighters, and Breaking Benjamin. We tend to select songs that Nerds know, like themes from video games or TV shows on HBO and SyFy, mostly because we like them and no one else plays them. We also write and produce our own music, so if you want something really unique, we'll play you our own stuff!
We can play in your living room and let you have a conversation at the same time, or we can play at your football stadium and pass out earplugs - you get to pick! If you've got a "minmal" venue, our small footprint can literally fit into a corner. If you think you can't have live music because there's a noise ordinance, we've got a very low volume threshold when we need it. If you need "listening" music, we can do that too. If you need a marching band... well, we probably can't actually march and play at the same time, but we can haul out some sound reinforcement and play so loud you can hear us in the stadium parking lot.
Our target venues include (but are not limited to): Wineries and Breweries, Community Events, Festivals, Fundraisers, Conventions, House Concerts, Food Truck Centers, Coffee Houses, Restaurants, Parties, etc. We are not considered a "dance band," though we have been known to cause mass-pogoing with our NIN cover of Hand That Feeds.
And because we know how hard it is to get out to support your local bands, we live stream a concert over the internet once a month that anyone can tune into and enjoy... second weekend of every month, because we love to play and we want to share that fun.
