Bio
Armed with personal, emotional songs and a soulful, raspy voice to sing them with, James Coates portrays his songs through a rustic tapestry influenced by the folk, rock, soul and even gospel genres.
After receiving comparisons to Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen with his "haunting" (Seattle Weekly) debut EP Coates set out to perform live, taking his passion for music to the stages of Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia, Washington as well as Portland and Eugene, Oregon, moving over 1,500 copies of the disc in the process.
Coates continues to perform live, garnering rave reviews from fans and fellow artists by blurring genres and pulling on heartstrings with his signature brand of heartfelt music, while he steps into the studio to record his new album. Keep your ears open as this inspired artist shows no signs of stopping any time soon.
