Bio
Writing songs has always been something that Crazy Jane Records artist, Jack Waldheim, has done. Growing up in Western MA, he began writing songs on a piano his mother bought for him to try as a child. He began writing on his old 'beat-to-hell' guitar while he was pursuing a B.A. in Literature at Westfield State College, working weekends at a local music store he had been employed at since he was fourteen, and playing solo and in bands in bars and clubs, these songs were sketched from these experiences, and inspired the eyes of a man in awe of a world, such as this one is.
Jack went into the studio to record his sophomore album with a killer band and emerged with, "On Second Thought..." Remember when albums weren't only a bunch of songs, they were a complete thought? You must hear this album!
Jack has shared bills with the Roomful of Blues Band, Tom Rush, Bobby Sweet and is also often a guest member of the Sky Smeed Band and the Damnit Band. Has performed as a featured performer at Club Helsinki’s “Tribute to Bob Dylan on his Birthday” and “Gram Parsons Tribute Night,” sharing the stage with members of Golem the Hunger Mountain Boys. His new album was recorded with longtime members of the Dooley Austin Band.
Jack was selected as a finalist in the 2009 John Lennon Songwriting Award Session I.
Quickly becoming a fan-favorite, Jack’s performances are most known for his honesty with his audiences. Equally comfortable with his trio, using just his acoustic guitar or his concoction of floor pedals, live samplers and a Blonde Telecaster, Jack sings up from the very bottom, down with the rusty holes and the random sediment, down where the heart lies.
