EP REVIEW:

After years of helping hundreds of singers as a vocal coach, singer songwriter Jackie Arredondo recently took matters into her own hands & launched own musical career with the release of her highly anticipated five song EP entitled Someone Like You.

The EP kicks things off with the title track “Someone Like You” a passionate intro piece that serves up impressive intro, & a well crafted musical build eventually lending itself into a grand slam chorus with a powerful vocal delivery from Arredond. Track 2 “Put some Man on that” shifts gears a bit upbeat country vibe, against driving rock rhythms & hooky guitar riffs making for a catchy country-rock groove. Just when you think you got this CD figured out along comes Track 3: “With my Eyes Closed” This piece shows us even more musical diversity with it’s solid low end groove against a melodic pop rock mosaic. This piece is infectious & strikes an impressive balance between pop, rock, country & A touch of soul. As the EP slowly unfolds I can hear many musical textures reminiscent of classic vocal acts as classic Melissa Etheredge, Bonnie Rait, & even The Dixie Chicks. The music itself combines classic elements of bluesy-rock with an aftertaste of R&B, country & even soul. The musicianship of everyone involved is clearly above the bar. I especially like all the low end rock grooves presented on each of the songs. You will also notice lush layers musical instrumentation layered everywhere from well placed keyboard accents, electronic drum elements & solid low end beats, impressive slide & solo guitar licks & even fiddles. The EP has some truly impressive moments on it showcasing impressive songwriting, world class instrumentation via a powerful & emotional delivery up front from Arredondo. Zeroing in now on Arredondo voice it goes down smooth but has a classic raspy jagged edge, reminiscent of such singers Wynona Judd, Melissa Etheredge &Taylor Dane. & even a dash of Janis Joplin. She makes the vital (singer to listener) emotional connection with her vocals each & every time. By track 3 the EP hits solid stride with bluesy “Another Monday Afternoon.” & the grooving final piece “Insane” this EP has something for just about everyone. It’s definitely a top notch musical production from start to finish with world class songwriting, amazing vocal presence from Arredond & superb musicianship to boot.

It’s had to find any real noticeable weaknesses with this EP. But if could say anything to Arredond right now - it would be step back from the mic a bit on some of the slower parts, find that emotional pocket & ride down the intensity a bit. I really like the voice, the passion & the raw intensity from Arredond, but at time she comes on way to strong. It’s fair to say Arredond is guilty of overdosing the vibrato a bit as well. I don’t like the way Track 2 “Put some Man on that” fades out – sounds like a classic forced exit, & just sounds extremely amateurish to me.

From start to finish it's hard to find any weaknesses on “Someone Like You.” It's an impressive EP teaser that's easy to groove to, highly original, uplifting, & extremely entertaining. Note for note, song for song there isn’t really a weak piece on this entire 5 song EP. All pieces are short & sweet musical experiences, each one possessing its own signature groove, & musical personality to call its own. The writing & playing abilities of this band are rock solid, & the melodies & harmonies are well crafted, the catalogue is highly diversified. But last but not least the vocal presence of Arredond just makes the whole thing work really well. She is infectious & knows how to fill the musical space with her voice. Like the aforementioned I really enjoyed some of the low end blues/rock grooves presented on the CD. I look forward to hearing the full length CD later hopefully soon. us Rhodes

"Jackie's 'Someone" EP Comes Out Blazing - October 10th, 2010"

Jackie Arredondo, vocal coach galore, turns out a spit fire of a country music EP in Someone Like You.
Jackie Arredondo is no stranger to the entertainment industry - it is her name after all on "The Jackie Arredondo Singing Method" used by the hundreds of musicians and actors she has helped refine at Sony Music Latin, BMG, EMI Capitol, Universal Music Group and more. But while the general public has had little knowledge of her aggressive teaching techniques and skills, they will soon want to discover her charm and natural likability in her five song EP Someone Like You.

Opening Track Appropriate for Wedding Song
The title track to this introductory CD has wedding song written all over it. At times it would be very easy to throw this under the cheesiest of cheese songs, but something about Arredondo's voice moves the words and song past lame. The listener believes her. The listener wants to be there and feels as if they are because her voice is so strong. She never sounds canned; her emotion and delivery sound as if she is the listeners sister sharing her story.

In "Put Some Man On It" the mood is light and fun - as is Arredondo. Just as any salesman will share the secret to phone calls is "smiling," the listener surely feels as though Arredondo is smiling and thoroughly enjoying herself. This song is all country.

Track Three is Radio Friendly
Track three "With My Eyes Closed" the mood is slowed; and her rich voice silks through this tepid track. She almost brings a soul, bluesy sound. By far, this is the EP's best track. Beautiful song and very radio friendly.

"Another Monday Afternoon" (track four) continues a soulful sound; that Natalie Cole feel to it. The last track "Insane" is a fresh wave of light - it feels very summery. This song sounds much more country than the previous. What would have been nice, for the listener, is to take this song a bit more. Let loose! Arredondo proved she could do it in "Put Some Man On It."

Overall Review is B
Jackie Arredondo's debut EP is charming and engaging. This vocal coach has some moxie - no doubt. Fans of Natalie Cole, Gloria Estefan and Melissa Manchester will want to listen. Overall the review is a B. She has a beautiful voice and the listener is engaged. But, the product sounds commercial - she's missing the twang of Gretchen Wilson, Martina McBride or Faith Hill. And, as someone so schooled in the industry, she will have no trouble getting to the next step and putting together an 'A' on her next project

"Jackie Arredondo Named July “Best Vocalist Of The Month” With The Song, “Someone Like You” - July, 2010"

Jackie Arredondo Named July “Best Vocalist Of The Month” With The Song, “Someone Like You”

By Dale Kawashima

Jackie Arredondo Jackie Arredondo, a talented pop/country singer & writer based in Miami, FL, has won the July SingerUniverse “Best Vocalist Of The Month” Competition, for her performance of the new song "Someone Like You." This song will be included on her upcoming 6-song album, which will be released by Gold Voice Records in early 2011.

“Someone Like You” is a well-crafted pop ballad which has a country flavor. It was written by Nashville songwriter Jason Campbell, who has written cuts for Rascal Flatts and Sammy Kershaw. This song provides a terrific showcase for Arredondo's strong, expressive lead vocals. "Someone Like You" was expertly produced by Richard Franko & Jason Campbell, at County Q recording studio in Nashville.

Arredondo grew up in Miami, where she learned to sing and play piano, and she also did some acting at a young age. She was inspired early on by listening to such artists as Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire and Kenny Rogers. Then as a teenager, she began singing with local bands, and she performed in clubs throughout Florida.

Following high school, Arredondo attended the University of Miami, but she decided to leave college when she impressively developed a reputation as an excellent vocal coach. She developed her own singing technique, and she was hired by Sony Music and other top labels to teach her vocal technique to many artists, particularly in the Latin field. Notably, Arredondo was also hired by several reality TV shows to train their vocalists.

Jackie Arredondo In addition to her success as a vocal coach, Arredondo decided three years ago to focus on her career as a recording artist & performer. She has worked with her manager, Ramon Gonzalez, and she's a featured artist on his independent label, Gold Voice Records. Arredondo recorded her first album in 2008, which was sung in Spanish. Then she traveled to Nashville to work with songwriters and producers on her next project, a country album with English lyrics.

Arredondo's first country single release (in July 2009) was "Another Monday Afternoon," which reached #7 on the New Music Weekly country chart. Her next single, "Insane," went to #4, and Arredondo received a nomination by New Music Weekly for Breakthough Artist Of The Year (in the country genre).

"I'm excited about the success of our singles," said Arredondo. "I went to the CRS country radio conference, and I was pleased to meet many programmers and DJs who knew me and had played my songs. I'm looking forward to completing my album project. Also, I've been performing at showcases and conventions, and we're working on presenting our full concert performances."

"Jackie Arredondo – Someone Like You (CD) - October 07, 2010"

Jackie’s initial track on “Someone Like You” is something truly special. It is a track that exists at the nexus of a number of distinct musical style. It could conceivably chart on R&B, country, or pop charts, and that is based more on the talent of Jackie’s voice than anything else. Don’t get me wrong – the instrumentation is great, but each nuance of Jackie’s vocal, each rise and fall, is what is needed to transform this track into something special. With such a solid introductory single, it really is intriguing to me to see whether Jackie is able to convert the momentum created by “Someone Like You”. “Put Some Man on That” is the EP’s second track, and the guitars are what immediately hit listeners.

More firmly located in the country style, “Put Some Man on That” is a song that looks to resurrect the halcyon days of female-fronted country. Where there was a rich tradition of female country singers that lead from Dolly Parton to Loretta Lynn, Reba McEntire to Shania Twain, I personally think the current batch of female country singers (Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift) are missing something. Jackie has that something, and while it may be undefinable, I think I have some inkling of what it may just be.

During “With My Eyes Closed”, listeners get some idea of what it could be – the sultry vocals that issue forth soon after the track begins provide a clue. To properly get what it is, listeners have to follow through to the end of “Insane”. It is what I previously discussed – the vocal and personal chops necessarily to effortlessly move through different styles and tempos of songs, to make anything sound absolutely Heavenly. While country music may be in a little bit of a rut, Jackie’s “Someone Like You” may just be what is needed to jumpstart its heart. If you find yourself a fan of older country, or just of talented female performers, put on a copy of “Someone Like You” today – you won’t regret it.

"Jackie Arredondo, Someone Like You - October 11th, 2010"

Jackie Arredondo is an artist who is not afraid to step out of her comfort zone and try something new. With the release of her EP Someone Like You, Jackie is proving that she can take on a solo career and do just fine. For years, Arredondo was a well-known vocal coach within the TV and music industries. She was also heavily involved with the Latin music scene primarily in Miami and now Jackie emerges as a bona fide Country Music Artist. Talk about a complete 180, but Arredondo is ready to convince listeners and herself that this is no joke.

Jackie’s resume leading up to this 5-track EP is quite impressive to say the least. She has trained artists for: Sony Music Latin, BMG, EMI Capitol, Universal Music Group, Warner Chappell, Emilio Estefan, Tommy Mottola and Sean “Diddy” Combs. Arredondo has also worked with: Gloria Estefan, Brenda K. Starr, Jaci Velasquez, Julio Iglesias Jr. and Rick Wake (producer for Gloria Estefan, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston). Going from behind the scenes to center stage as a performing artist must be a very exciting feeling for Jackie Arredondo. Jackie had this to say: “This is my first time doing what I really love and what I really wanted to do in life”. Good for you Jackie; now go get ‘em!

The EP starts up with the title track and this song definitely hits you due to her passionate performance. You can tell that Jackie was meant to do this and that she feels very strongly about the music at hand. This opening number has a catchy/radio-friendly touch to it thanks to the Pop/Country sound. The next track, “Put Some Man on That”, had a heavy Country feel that made her a highly believable artist. Jackie’s performance on this project proved to me that she can tackle Country music head on and still remain true to herself. Jackie does Country & Pop music proud and I’m sure that it will catch on with many other people to come. Someone Like You definitely hit a chord with me because I could sense how bad Arredondo wants this. The confidence level expressed by Arredondo on all five installments is off the charts. The EP was extremely well-done and perhaps we could have a star in the making. Whatever happens with Jackie Arredondo’s solo music career, I can say this much and that is that Jackie is off to a tremendous start! Also, with her deep Spanish roots and the many years spent in Miami, Jackie will be recording a Spanish version of Someone Like You. So…be on the lookout for that and keep this musician on your radar.

"Vents Interviews"

How did you started with all this??
My heart has been always with country music. I fell in love with that genre because the stories of all those songs touched me deeply, they were so beautiful and so well written that i thought one day i could also sing songs with such emotive lyrics

What's the message to transmit with your music??
“I have always wanted to express to the world the journey of emotions that life has placed before me, the ups and downs of reality,” says Jackie. I love to sing, to live and the emotions and experiences that I feel when I do, but above all, knowing I let others know about it. You know...like when I am happy, sad, in love and even sensual or inspirational, since life, in all its adventurous paths, makes you feel all that.

What's your method at the time of writing a song??
Most of the time the music comes first although there have been various times the song has started with a written poem.

Which is your music influences??
Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Dolly Parton, Martina Mcbride, Carrie Underwood, Rascall Flats, Keith Urban

What plans do you have for the future??
I would like to focus going out on tour and be able to perform live across the Nation.

Which has been the funniest prank you have been or took part while on tour or after a show??
Well I was asked to do a charity telethon which was supposed to be live and they made a disaster out of my performance. The music was out of sync, they started asking me crazy questions and I tell you, I was about to cry and when they realized that they all came out and said "SYKES" !! It was soooo uncomfortable!!

If you were stranded in the middle of nowhere after a show or while on tour. The help is 65 miles away from where you and your band (If any) are, ¿Who would you send to look for help? And if while the rest wait, there's no food and the only way to feed yourself is by eating each other, ¿Who would you eat first?
I would send the drummer for help because he is really fit! I would prefer not eating anybody but if I had to, it would probably be the keyboardist, he is a vegetarian so i figured it would be like eating organic meat. That sound too funny.

Which country you would love to play?
Japan

With which bands you would love to share stage??
Rascall Flats and Keith Urban, they rock!

Are you OK, with the direction the band is going actually?
Yes, i have a wonderful team that takes real good care of me and my band. They always look out for our best interest and marketing wise i could not ask for more. My single and music video are doing really well and seem to be pointing in the right direction. The feedback we are getting from the fans is awesome and that makes me realize that we are doing the right thing and touching people all over the world with my music. I am blessed.

Bio

Jackie came to the states at the age of 3 years old. Raised in Florida, she studied music and acting and at a very young age began singing with different local bands but only with the leaders of the band being her legal guardian since her mother could go on every gig because of work.

When she became young lady things got very tough, college was expensive and rent too. She took a job as an 18 wheeler truck driver which would change her music inclination forever…she became hooked on country music. By the time she took her first route out of the state of Florida, she felt the radio turned into an audio book. Jackie had never heard such captivating stories in a song as she did when all the country tunes of the moment began to come to life on the radio. She then decided that she also would sing songs like those at one point of time.

But if wasn’t that easy, priorities had changed and responsibilities had grown. This is when Jackie’s career took a turn and her dreams of becoming a recording artist were placed on hold to pursue a new career as a vocal coach instead. This gave her the ability to still be involved in the music industry. She has trained famous artists and artists for famous producers like Emilio Estefan, Tommy Mottola and Puff Daddy, to name a few. This also paved her way as one of the best vocal instructors in the Latin music industry giving her the opportunity to take her work from in between four walls to over 30 countries through the silver screen and being the pioneer in Hispanic reality television vocal coaching instructing 10 reality shows to date for the best networks in Latin television. She also has her own vocal conservatory called “JACKIE ARREDONDO’S MUSIC WORLD” that caters for the elite in the Latin music industry.

However, Jackie never stopped dreaming about Nashville, the Grand Ole Opry and Country music. The music of Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Dolly Parton, Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts and Keith Urban has been an integral part of her life and she counts their CDs among her most valuable possessions. But living in the east coast and being Latin, of made it hard to believe that she could actually ever be a star in country music.

Jackie started focusing a little bit on a career as a solo artist and thanks to someone who heard her sing on one of her gigs out of the country who got her the opportunity she had waited for since driving that 18 wheeler out of the state of Florida…he asked her if she would be willing to sing country music, the answer was obvious. She teamed up with people who believed in her talent as a country singer and paved her way into the country music airwaves recording with one of the best, Brian White.

One of her life goals is to tour throughout the world bringing her brand of Country music to fans everywhere and establishing this magnificent genre for the Latin industry “POP COUNTRY LATINO”.

What Others Had to Say
“Zeroing in now on Arredondo voice it goes down smooth but has a classic raspy jagged edge, reminiscent of such singers Wynona Judd, Melissa Etheredge &Taylor Dane & even a dash of Janis Joplin. She makes the vital (singer to listener) emotional connection with her vocals each & every time.”
Cyrus Rhodes – Indi Music Digest

“The title track to this introductory CD has wedding song written all over it. At times it would be very easy to throw this under the cheesiest of cheese songs, but something about Arredondo's voice moves the words and song past lame. The listener believes her. The listener wants to be there and feels as if they are because her voice is so strong. She never sounds canned; her emotion and delivery sound as if she is the listeners sister sharing her story.” Melissa Kucirek - Suite 101.com

“I can say this much and that is that Jackie is off to a tremendous start! Also, with her deep Spanish roots and the many years spent in Miami, Jackie will be recording a Spanish version of Someone Like You. So…be on the lookout for that and keep this musician on your radar”
Jimmy Rae – Skope Magazine
