FLINT JOURNAL NEWSPAPER INTERVIEW
Check out ...Baby T THE FLINT JOURNAL FIRST EDITION
Sunday, August 07, 2005 By Chad Swiatecki edge@flintjournal.com 810.766.6237
WHO: Baby T WHO 2: Maverick Turner HOME BASE: Flint, though Turner's year spent in the Dirty South capital of Atlanta certainly shows in the beats he produces.
SOUNDS LIKE: The Game, only younger and hungrier, or a less-cartoonish Ludacris, produced by the funereal beats of KutMasta Kurt. In addition to rapping, Turner, 20, makes his own beats.
OLD(IES) SCHOOL: "Most people just talk about rappers when they talk about old-school stuff they like, but I get lots of inspiration from oldies artists ... stuff like the Temptations, Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson. Yeah, I'm a Motown nut, but there's a sound in those records that made it seem like they were so happy to be there doing what they did. I aim for that feeling in my music."
FLINT-TOWN SOUND: "There used to be a Flint sound that people identified from what they heard from the Dayton Family, but even they've changed up with their new album. That's good because I think we need to get away from that old mentality and sound that a lot of people are still stuck on. This is the 21st century ... let's get to just making songs that are tight that people can feel. Doing that, we'll get the new Flint sound."
LOVE YOU LIVE: Baby T plays Flint's Purple Moon tonight and is performing at and producing "Tha Blackout" hip-hop showcase Friday at Churchill's, also featuring S.T.O.R.M. Records, Cho$en Few Corp. and others. Admission is $5 for 21 and over, $7 for ages 18-20.
FOR YOUR EARS: Turner's "Outspoken" CD is available locally at Discount CDs and Tapes, Music Planet and Nick's Records and Tapes.

Baby T’s Redemption is a musical collective mix of authentically raw lyrical Hip-Hop reminiscent of the hard hitting flow of LL Cool J circa 1985’s Radio – 1987’s Bigger and Deffer. Obviously inspired by other lyrical juggernauts, the smoothness of Jay-Z, the candor of Nas, and the colorful music arrangements of Kanye West, Baby T crafts an almost seamless representation of the art form, personifying Hip-Hop. With a few minor missteps in an attempt to swoon the ladies, Redemption doesn’t lose its balance and proves that lyricism and most certainly that Hip-Hop ain’t dead!

Baby T is a 24 year old music producer/film and music artist. He has widely developed his skills throughout the music spectrum. Releasing four previous albums, Baby T has now ‘Redemption’ added to his collection. An album inspired by his ‘trails, tribulations & stories for the past 2 years’.
Right from the very beginning of this album BT reels you in on a journey. ‘Lay it down ‘is a catchy upbeat track with an interesting reverberation of vibes. This hip-hop collection sends a message to woo and encapsulate you within the rhythm. Through the lyrics you get a feel of the story within each track and BT certainly has used his creativity to show that hip-hop is alive and kicking.
Each track has its own individuality, pace and tone and I personally like that as each song is unique to itself. Baby T continues to show the creative side of his talent showing within this album he has a natural artistic talent oozing through the content of this album.
‘Redemption’ is certainly an album to listen to and enjoy. Baby T shows his undeniable artistic quality within the tracks of this album. Definitely one to place on that list of downloads.
On some of the featured tracks on this album, BT encourages featured artists within his music with each one adding their individuality.
Cassanova, features on the track Soulful Muzik, which oozes the feel of the old style, a slower steady track. Angel is featured in two tracks 15minutes and Where do I go Pt. 2. She adds a wonderful addition to these great tracks with her vocals enhancing those of BT’s. Niecey is a artist found on the track U think U know, I couldn’t help noticing how her vocals have a imilarity to Rhianna, and in this track they add a wonderful tone.

And again CD from Flint, Michigan. Even if the mass of productions meanwhile from Flinttown the market already for a long time no more inundate the level of the 90's do not reach, one is surprised occasionally nevertheless.
So for example by the 23 year old rapper and producer Baby T, whose first work "Outspoken" was produced completely by it. Contrary to most other albums from the region Baby T does not set guest list, which is probably also because of the financial possibilities, but instead relies seperate on its own abilities. Even if "Outspoken" sets on proven means, it already times plate Hooks like "Can't Handle This, I'm material down tons my feet, you can't handle this, I'm bringing the heat, cause I'm the realest MC.." brought, convinces Baby T particularly with the surprising idioms on its album. It frightens neither before "Cant Handle This" guitars nor forwards agressiven e-guitars as back in the Opener. This belonged to the best TRACKS and opens the album skillfully, the two following Songs reaches not then no more the format of the Openers, however "You Ain't ready" and Plan N simple are one "can also convince rather calm" plan.
That according to my opinion best Song of the album follows thereafter: "Just Like This". It by a hard Beat and a good Hook and also the Gastraps of J-Bat asking and T's brother Dee Slyck, which is altogether on 4 TRACKS gefeatured, can to be heard be able convinced. The somewhat weaker "You Should've Knew" and the title TRACK "Outspoken" however offer little convincing. The Songs is dismissed fast with the four bad numbers of 08/15. The calm "My Thoughts" surprised with one SAM-POLARIZES from "Billy Jack" from Soullegende Curtis Mayfield. More of such TRACKS would not have harmed the album with security. For the conclusion of the album Don't Know "follow still two audible TRACKS with" Friends & Foes "and the good" I. On the question "Darfs also a little more its?"
I answer with Baby T with "". Two or three TRACKS more would not have harmed "Outspoken" surely, however the album succeeded also in such a way, and the nine Songs prepare a kurzweiliges, varied pleasure for me. One may be strained whether one will hear more in the future of Baby T will we hear...
