Isle of Pine is the solo project of Montreal's Tim Beeler, whose self-imposed recording limitations saturate his personable songwriting with a familiar 4-track tape hiss bliss. Recorded through a $4 karaoke microphone, And Farther Away is brought to us by curator CKUT out of McGill University. Coat of Arms (Farther Away) is the album opener, but be sure to check out 1 (Maine) if you're looking for even more Neutral Milk Hotel vibes. - Free Music Archive
"he sings about ex-lovers and saints with his buoyant, wistful voice that pairs just as well with these scratchy recordings as apples do with peanut butter." - Boy Attractions

The percussion gallops, and multiple fuzzy guitars join together in foot-stomping, harmonizing unison... [an] encapsulation of the joys and sorrows of youth. - Whiskey Transfusion

Bio
The acoustic outlet of Tim Beeler, taking more varied forms each year. In the most recent year, Isle of Pine has incarnated as lo-fi guitar/voice to a spoken word/ambient/noise collaboration with andrea-jane cornell (as Eyle of Pine). The project has grown harsher, darker, but with an ever-present emphasis on intimacy and connecting with the audience. Currently working on this as well as another release of close, quiet, acoustic shivers!
The last year saw Isle of Pine opening for the likes of Buke & Gase and Astral Swans in Montreal.
Isle of Pine's last release, "...and farther away," is a return to simplicity; "kettle states," low-fi pop gems; "marches," dark, droning.
"As lo-fi as we can get... akin to how it must have felt for Robert Pollard before he got a four-track, or for Beck before he got his hands on a drum machine. Grimy yet stunning, melancholic yet brutally honest. An intimate exploration of songwriter Tim Beeler's world." -POP Montreal Guide 2011
