Deltron 3030 – City Rising From The Ashes- Deltron Music - 90.5 KSJS San Jose
San Jose’s MC/ producer, IQ, lands the #1 spot (week 7/31/12) in KSJS Urban’s Top 40 rotation with his single, “Vintage,” featuring I Sheik of Revolution of the Mind and Onself Da Vinci, both of whom are definitely no strangers to San Jose’s Hip-Hop music scene. Originally from Los Angeles, IQ proves himself as an asset and major talent in San Jose’s Hip-Hop community. “Vintage” is a single off IQ’s long awaited LP, “Sound Lab,” a release via Open University Productions. The track was produced by IQ himself as he demonstrated smooth boom bap type production with his Guru (Gangstarr) like vocals, and I Sheik’s solid verse alongside Oneself Da Vinci’s intellectual rhyme. Debuting in KSJS Urban’s Top 40 on June 12th, it retires at #1. Bio
A west coast MC with a keen awareness of the fifth element in hip hop (the mind) yet conflicted with an upbringing that often deprives encouragement to that aspect of life. A slumdog wizard given a voice that can also captivate people like a magnetic spell.
Taking a note from a romanticized time IQ is also an active Zulu Nation member (A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Afrika Bambatta) on the West Coast along with a new movement of young Zulu's. He also runs a clothing line and provides musical scores for an artist collective named Old Souls.
IQ's first Solo album is an album called Sound Lab, which he did a majority of the production for that features a good mix of artists from street to conscious with IQ being the glue in between.
Up next in 2013 is his album THERVPY which has taken a much darker sound to his previous work with a message heard by the tone of the album rather than the words. His latest single "Way I Feel" reached number one on a few college radio stations with the music video being equally as buzz-worthy.
IQ performs his sets either solo, acoustic or with a 4 piece band depending on the venue and setting.
---------
IQ started his music career by offering production and lyrics for very active groups in the Northern California area. One group "The Illustrators" included Grindtime M.C, Ghambit as well as another prominent production team in the Bay Area called "Xchange Leaders"
His name has been growing in the Bay Area as well as the LA area for the numerous amounts of tracks he has produced on artists albums and bringing his bit of style to each individual project. Some people say his production is a mix between Hi-Tek, Black Milk and 9th Wonder.
