Ike & the crooked souls

In a dark room lit by a single lamp, Ike & The Crooked Souls have delivered a soulful ballad that is as heartbreaking as it is uplifting. “If You Leave Me” is a song in the great tradition of breakup songs where the singer knows full well how much worse he or she is going to fare than an erstwhile partner (think “Oh Lonesome Me”). It’s a song that’s ready to be a friend when you’re down. The Crooked Souls’ groove is casual and locked-in, and frontman Devonte Coleman’s voice has all the warmth and crunch of his keyboardist’s Wurlitzer. This Nashville, Tenn. band has Memphis pockets for miles.

Bio
Ike & The Crooked Souls recorded these songs live at Gray Matters studio on December 14th, 2015. These are songs of heartbreak, regret, hope and redemption.
“These songs feel like they've been under my skin for quite awhile.” Says lead singer Ike. “We can't wait to get in front of a crowd of people and share our art. There's a nervous energy in me and us, there's freedom here, freedom for us as artists to be who we are. I hope these lyrics move you... in one way or another, I hope you hear them and you are moved.”
