Igloos

Hi,
After playing sled island 2011 at the all ages venue Igloos are hoping to step it up and play a sled venue that serves alcohol in 2012. Igloos are a local Calgary three piece act with influences deeply rooted in the post punk music of 80’s labels Homstead and SST records. We are not veterans of the music scene, we have not played in other bands but we all have symmetrical faces which makes us look very trustworthy.

Igloos started out as three friends in Calgary who have no formal music training, getting together to play for fun. This informal collaboration has culminated into twenty or so complete songs which have been recorded live to tape in the winter at our heated garage off 16th ave north. We have recently begun playing shows around Calgary.  The highlight of which has been a performance at Tubby Dog, which was well received by people who like hot dogs. Sled Island is an important opportunity for this band to reach a broad audience and gain credibility in the local music scene.  We can promise as much raw power as we are given minutes to play. We have always enjoyed participating in Sled from the audience and playing at the all ages venue in 2011. We see it as an incredible opportunity for a new local band. As a new band we have no long resume of shows, just songs to show what we are about. Thank you for considering our submission.  We look forward to hearing from you soon.
