"Chicago band Identity Crises Inc. takes its name seriously: It must be the only band in history to cite both John Mayer and Swedish prog-metal band Opeth as influences. Just like a real identity crisis, it's got its compelling freak-outs and its indifferent lows, but its sheer willingness to mix things up is usually an asset. The songs bounce from mannered pop to jazz-informed breakdowns, from dynamic hooks to light jangles. All this genre-juggling can distract from the songwriting as much as it helps, but even some of the band's more indecisive tunes find logical ways to blend disparate sounds."
Note: this article references a review of mp3s made available on sonicbids.com for a headlining show on 12/6/2009 at The High Noon Saloon of Madison, WI. See http://www.high-noon.com/calendar/index.php?mode=find&mdy=2009&mdm=12&mdd=06 - The Onion A.V. Club (Madison)
"Identity Crises Inc. is another Windy City outfit with a Wisconsin pedigree -- keyboardist Jay Barbeaux is a Badger. His band-mates come from warmer climes like Bolivia, Florida and Puerto Rico (and Chicago, but that's not especially warmer). These diverse roots give the band a globetrotting, world music sound." --Bobby Tanzilo, managing editor of onmilwaukee.com

Bio
Identity Crises Inc. is a Chicago-based musical project launched by lead singer and guitarist, Jacob Heiss, during a cross-country road trip about five years ago. The group reflects his experience growing up in a diverse, urban community seasoned with frequent travels abroad in the continued exploration of life. Identity Crises Inc. features a dynamic stylistic focus on rock, jazz, roots, and world music with a standing but also semi-permeable roster including guest artists from virtually every corner of the globe. Functioning as less of a band and more of a musical movement, the group balances project continuity and collaborative experimentation to attain the highest caliber of artistry through stylistic fluidity and genre command.
As Identity Crises Inc.’s consistently growing fan-base can attest, no two concerts are exactly alike, yet all are equally, mind-blowingly memorable.
