Bio
Recorded by Clinton St. John over two hazy days in July, the five tracks on North St. EP introduce Hook and Eye as a band writing unhurried, intimate and dark songs. Perched solidly on the divide between down-tempo folk balladry and introspective indie rock, North St. EP is a record about resuscitating one's own heart just to pull it out to prove that they can hack it with a hole.
A musician and writer living in Calgary, Alberta, and previously performing with Flemish Eye Records' The Cape May and Pale Air Singers, Jeff MacLeod has recorded with Steve Albini and toured across Europe and the USA as a member of Nina Nastasia's (Touch and Go/Fat Cat Records) band.
On March 14, Hook and Eye (rounded out by Stephen Burchill on bass and Carl Davison on drums) will be releasing North St. EP on limited edition 180 gram ten-inch vinyl, with a sleeve designed by Montreal artist Marc Rimmer.
