Dub heads, weed heads, gather ’round; the soundtrack to your next session has arrived. Aptly-titled “High,” the song is about canibus, and the (unpredictable) acts that come with it: deep thinking, cheap thrills, and everything in-between. And, with a backdrop of guitar riffs and bass loops, calling it “the best damn smoking song I’ve heard in a minute” wouldn’t be off-base. Hell of a first impression for relatively Hona Costello, a Chi-town MC we anxiously await to hear more from. - Smoking Section
Los Angeles based emcee Hona Costello links with Chi-town vocalist and SaveMoney affiliate Tiahna Gennae to let go of this brand new joint titled, “Tr1P$.” DL Below! - Kevin Nottingham
Hona Costello is preparing to drop “Penelope”, his 18 track album, on June 2nd. Only 13 of these tracks will be available to download free. You can preorder the whole album here. “Sunrise” is the first single from this album and it is pretty stellar. Backed by a hardcore back beat and a flowy electronic instrumental, this song has already convinced me to like it. On top of that, Hona Costello’s vocals are as catchy and well placed as ever. This is an ode to a lifestyle of partying and while that’s nothing new, it is really well crafted. Check it out. - Paper Mash Music
Hona Costello is a Chicago-bred, up-and-coming Hip Hop artist who was previously a part of the IBK/KOCH signed group, Detour. After parting ways, Hona travelled to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams as a solo artist. His debut mixtape, “Follow Me” was named in TheJourneyThroughLawSchool‘s “Top 50 Albums of 2011,” and created well-deserved hype for Hona.
Starting off the new year with some new-new, Hona has released his latest single “Sunrise.” This will actually be the last single he drops until his debut album “#Penelope” drops this Summer. - The Mc Report
Hona Costello sings a very memorable hook about a girl who doesn’t have to pretend to be anything but herself as they party the night away. This is the last song Costello is releasing till his debut album #Penelope this summer. - Ashes and Drinks
What’s Booth newcomer Hona Costello‘s favorite strain of weed? You might as well ask a parent to pick their favorite child. On his latest single, the Cali-based, Chicago-born spitter celebrates just a few of his greatest Highs: “Deep Purple… Northern Lights, Super Kush, Tangerine Dream, Maui Wowie, Cheese Quake, Land Crab, Willy Wonka, OG Purp, OG Hash, Cali Kush, Champagne Kush, Banana Kush, Blue Devil Kush.” Under-girding the artist’s blunted bars is an appropriately mellow, reggae-informed instrumental by Scarecrow. For this smokers’ anthem and many more quality joints, check out Costello’s Penelope LP when it hits online retailers in the first quarter of 2013. - DJ BOOTH
Hona Costello – High

I’m a very honest person, honesty in my opinion is the best policy. I saw this track floating around about a month ago but I completely pushed it under the carpet. This morning I stumbled upon it again and decided to press play on it and sit back and give it a listen. This shit is dope. The Chicago born Hona will be dropping his Penelope LP next year. - YouHeardThatNew
Chicago-bred rapper/singer Damar Core, also known as Hona Costello, recently released the Bob-Marley influenced "High," and the track is surprisingly smooth for a newcomer. The Chi-town artist recently relocated to Los Angeles, California in hopes of pursuing a music career, and shouts out that infamous California green on the record. Highlight of the song? That great chorus you can't help but sing along to over the guitar-laden instrumental. "High" is the first single off Costello's first project, Penelope. - Earmilk

Oh yes.
A new artist to ANM, Hona Costello is a 21 yr old artist/producer from Chicago and friend of Ramaj Eroc–who appears on our site at least once a week. Part of Eroc’s new #ShoutoutSundays series, “OH NO” is also the first leak from Costello’s upcoming mixtape ‘#FollowMe.’ As if Eroc and Costello weren’t enough, the two are joined on the track by California artists Seph Lucas and FlyBoi Nova. With everyone grabbing a verse, the track has a variety of different vocals, but the smooth hook from Hona in between keeps it all flowing. I’m not sure what these guys have to be worried about, this track is a hit! - Alwaysnewmusik
Perfect for any party goin’ down tonight (fuck work in the morning).
Becoming a regular name on the site, Hona Costello hits us with the second single off his upcoming mixtape, ‘#FollowMe,’ featuring fellow Riverside, CA artist Erica Bice. This track has an almost unbelievable professional sound of a mainstream song that only gets better once you hear Erica’s lovely Rihanna-esque hook and Hona’s Drizzy-like verses (not to say that they don’t have their own style). Like his good friend Ramaj Eroc, who appears on ANM frequently, Hona Costello has the talent to go far in this business–look out for the Riverside duo some day.
‘#FollowMe’ drops July 29th, ya know I CAN’T WAIT! - Alwaysnewmusik
