Bio
If you don't already know folk-country songstress Holly Furman, her current single, "Grew Up in Tennessee" may just catch you up to speed. The Boone, NC native and current Music Row performing songwriter croons of fireflies, the Blue Ridge Mountains, summer nights, and the struggles of young love with an unforgettably bittersweet tinge. Why it's not called, "Grew Up in Carolina?" You'll just have to listen.
Although Holly's early success as a singer was rivaled by her musical theater (leading roles in Grease, The Wizard of Oz and many others), her heart had always felt an undeniable pull toward country music. After winning a slew of local competitions, Holly realized she was quickly outgrowing the music scene in western Carolina, and graduated to the thriving market of Atlanta, GA. Holly focused her efforts on improving her guitar playing, writing her own material, and singing at open mic nights, coffee houses, clubs, churches, and for anyone who would listen. As her career began to bloom, and at her family's urging, she left Georgia behind and headed to the biggest stage of all, Nashville, TN. THE Music City.
"Atlanta was a great place to play and develop my craft and a fan base, but Nashville is different. There is just something symbolic, almost sacred about Nashville and its musicians. It has taken my music to a whole new level. It's an amazing feeling to be completely surrounded by the industry."
Now residing just outside the city in beautiful Franklin, TN, Holly almost feels as if she's back home; a wide-eyed forth grader in the mountains of North Carolina. She continues to write and perform with some of the music industry's biggest names, and was chosen to write songs for a rising children's show. Regardless of where the southern breeze takes her, Holly Jones continues to captivate audiences with a small town girl's poetic take on the beauty and unpredictability of life and love. More importantly, she shows us that laughter and music can fill each day with every necessity for living to the absolute fullest.
"I choose to write and sing music that makes me vulnerable and honest. I want to move and affect people in the most powerful language I know. Everyone may not get it, but one thing I know about myself now is that it's not fame that I am looking for, it's a legacy!"
