H.I. Jr. was formed March 2012 in Denton, Texas. The debut album "From His Highness" will be released early January by local label 1101 Records. By combining influences from a wide range of experimental & pop music such as the Butthole Surfers, Grandaddy, Pavement & Super Furry Animals, the music seems to cast a crazy magic. The sound blends from epic sonic adventures to catchy pop melodies warped by intense Texas summers. We believe in painting city murals on the walls of country homes. When the songs end you may find yourself asking,"why is the time machine still running"? A song such as "Shadow" finds the narrator alone, having lost his shadow in the snow only to have it follow him into a blizzard of the delayed howling winds. As draped crusaders mantled by clouds, H.I. Jr. rides in on acid birds to catch the suns' sparkle. Psychedelia explodes from this music through the lyrics & the live show, which is a spectacle unto itself. We believe in setting the stage for an experience unlike the next band you will see. We want to make you dance, laugh, and lose yourself, because in the end isn't that why you love music?
