Hopefully this is where honesty is the best policy. Although we've played together for a couple years, we've performed almost exclusively in Tacoma. Everyone stays very busy with other bands, and Higher Vibes is our hometown musical oasis. We've played weeklys at the Swiss in Tacoma for many months, and headlined Jazzbones several times, but alas, no press specifically reviewing the band. Hundreds of mentions, clippings, and plugs could elucidate our experience and local favor, but are not available on short notice, and were never saved. We've been waiting to branch out regionally until the album was complete, and could serve as a dignified business card. Playing Hempfest could be our initiation into the Seattle Reggae Scene, and we can see no finer way to come out! We dream of performing at Hempfest, and are confident we can enhance an already great seattle tradition. Our sincere hope is that a lack of proper press does not affect our potential to join your celebration! - The Truth

Higher Vibes' first self-titled album will be ready in time for our gigs at Taste of Tacoma, Bite of Seattle, and Hempfest. Zach Lujan's original, INIFRESI has had regular airplay in GUAM for years!

Higher Vibes is just a couple of years old, but the members have been sharing musical vibrations for quite some time. The lineage of this band can be traced through some notable South Sound bands over the last Decade: The Schematics, The Paperboys, The Big Friction Jam, Vicci Martinez band, The Funk If I Know, Flying Debris, All Night Yard Sale, Old School Preservation Society...... The bands collective experience ranges through rock, jazz, funk, gypsy, classical, jam, latin, celtic and world. The resulting sound is rich and mature, having marinated in so many musical traditions for so long. We are musicians first, and reggae musicians in Higher Vibes. Our singer, Zachary Lujan was born and raised in Guam, and his style is decidedly island roots reggae. He is an encyclopaedia of reggae lyrics, and weaves a tapestry of rich reggae tradition amidst own island vibrations. Higher Vibes performs originals that are authentic enough to make island radio anywhere in the world, with messages and rhythms catchy enough to play on the Mountain. The covers range from the rootsiest of the roots(Bob, Peter, Steel Pulse, Katchafire) to motown and even into pop(Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson). The band is comprised of over half professional musicians who spend their time working between Higher Vibes, and many of the aforementioned South Sound bands. WE LOVE TO SPREAD GOOD VIBRATIONS, MAKE PEOPLE DANCE, AND PROMOTE THE MYSTICAL HERB AS ONE OF SOCIETY'S GREATEST GOODS!
