'Henry Locke’s ruggedly soothing voice reaches a place in your heart that, until now, was reserved only for close friends and family. Tom Petty meets Country twang meets Bruce Springsteen for a unique variety of sound!' - Kait Burgan, Go! Magazine, CH TV,Victoria
Henry Locke’s 11-original album, Edge of a Dream is solid. The guitar playing is tasty and his rangy singing is energetic and skillful. His songwriting is hooky but not at the expense of originality. His songs are fun (Bad Hair Day, Joe Cool), rockin' (Edge of a Dream, Rockin' on the Redline) and introspective without being a test of attention span (36th Avenue Blues, Bestest Friends.) I am looking forward to his next CD. - Jack Connolly, Recording Artist, Performer
When I watch Henry perform, I’m reminded that Don Mclean, of American Pie fame, could have been my neighbor.
- Ric Lafontaine, CDISLE
Locke’s deeply felt roots show through in this first time out CD. From songs of a long ago best friend to a newer created bestest friend in his son, his lyrics show depth and his voice carries a timbre that can be felt in the heart.
- Dawn Tyndall, City Councilor, Nanaimo, BC
Listening to songs on Henry Locke’s CD, “Edge of a Dream”, I found myself totally absorbed by deeply eloquent and moving lyrics and then, came, toe-tapping-dance-in-the-kitchen songs that made me want to go out dancing! Henry has a solid upbeat country/rock/pop-blues style all his own, but somewhat Neil Young/Blue Rodeo-esque. My favorite tracks include, but are not limited to 36th Avenue Blues, Bad Hair Day” and especially “Find the Morning” which featured some wonderful background harmony singing by Narissa Young. The tasteful guitar and chord work, combined with solid songwriting definitely make this CD Radio Airplay and Movie Sound Track material.

'I have had the pleasure of performing with Henry on stage and in studio. He is a consummate professional and wonderfully entertaining' - Theo Massop, Recording Artist, Performer

Bio
I live and play in the most amazing and musically rich part of the world - Vancouver Island! A rocker at heart, I've been writing songs for over 30 years and playing guitar since I was just 6. Now years later, I'm still crazy about learning new music and writing new songs. The older stuff is great as long as it really does ROCK, but anything musically that 'feels' old, mechanical or just too 'in the box' won't be found in my repetoire. Performing both as a solo act as well as with bands, music has brought me on some pretty wild rides... as well as to a few dead-ends... It's the wild rides that make it all worth it!
My first attempt at songwriting came at age 9 when I reworked the lyrics to Anne Murray’s hit song ‘Snow Bird’. In high school I played lead guitar in my first band, ‘Alter Ego'. I spent the rest of my teen years taking my singing and guitar playing to the next level. Since then I have played with various bands including; Split Second, UROK2, Foul Play, The Breakers, The Workin' Stiffs, Third Rock, and JC Freeway - winners of the 1982 BC Central Interior Battle of the Bands competition (held in Prince George BC). My current band is 'Littlehead', based in Nanaimo, BC.
In 2002 I recorded and co-produced my first CD, an 11-original named EDGE OF A DREAM. My favorite tune from that CD is ROCKIN' ON THE REDLINE. It's a sort of 'rock-a-billy' tune that goes out to anyone who holds down 2 (or more) jobs. That particular song is so near and dear to me that I re-recorded it in 2012 to reflect my 'personal state of the union'. My second trip to 'album land' came in the 2010 release 'Original Sin', recorded with the band I was with at the time 'Third Rock'. This 'classic rock' album was not a solo effort, yet the final product had me performing 100% of the guitar work, 50% of of the vocals, and 63% of the songwriting credits. Many of the songs you hear on this site are from that album.
