The debut album from the Toronto based rock band, Heavy Early is now available for download @ the band's website: www.heavyearly.com . The song "Voodoo Man" is pure rock perfection. From the solid vocal performance from lead singer Air Dark, to the tribal-esque percussion and smoking guitar work that builds the song into a hypnotic-like rock 'n' roll ecstasy. Bio
Formed in the spring of 2007, Heavy Early’s roots extend to the early 90s. At that time guitarist Pete Taylor and drummer Brad Gerstl were recording and touring in a band called “Yam Cat”. When “Yam Cat” dissolved in 1997, Pete went on to join “Scapegoat” (featuring lead vocalist Aaron Dark) which eventually ran its course by the fall of 2001. Pete then reunited with Brad and they started writing and recording together. This evolved into the “Bitch Puppy Parade” project.
After 5 years of songwriting and tracking, Pete and Brad decided to put together a band that could interpret their songs and called on Colin Edyvean to hop on bass. (Colin had been touring with the Ozzy tribute band “Crazy Babies” during Pete’s “Scapegoat” years, but has been friends with Pete ever since public school.)
After these three started jamming on a regular basis, Brad invited childhood friend and former high school band mate Jason Mamone to add his rhythm guitar skills. The timing was perfect.
And, finally, the boys called on Air Dark (formerly of “Scapegoat”) to take control of the lead vocals. The mix of gig sweat and long standing brotherhood was obvious: Heavy Early was complete.
Heavy Early creates rock music for the true rock fan, who slept outside the Gardens for the best seats in the house, spent your last dime on music instead of the rent, or got caught speeding just because that song made you do it!
