Bio
At the age of 21, Heather began her musical career performing as a jazz singer alongside Grammy nominee Hui Cox in clubs such as the Society of Illustrators in Manhattan. Her varied musical interests (Joni Mitchell, Bobby McFerrin, Billy Holiday, Phillip Glass, Ravi Shankhar) began to shape a sound that would become distinctly her own. After studying classical operatic vocals, classical Indian, and jazz, she booked it up to the woods of Massachusetts to focus on her growing interest in meditation. She has been living at a meditation retreat center for the past two years, where her current album has slowly brewed in her solitude; a compilation of folk/indie/pop-rock songs (with whispers of many other genres) directly affected by her experiences in meditation.
Cozy Razor's Edge is a compellingly diverse collection of songs; each one alive, inspired and individual. From the playful expression of joy in the title track "Cozy Razor's Edge", to the poetic desperation of "Keep Knocking", this album will take you on a journey through the depths of the human experience.
Now at 23, before the release of her debut album Heather has already proven herself as a skilled songstress and singer, and a powerhouse performer.
On the deepest of notes, this record could be described as her heartfelt effort to integrate music and awareness, creativity and presence; her intention to dance along the line between art and self inquiry, sound and silence. It's that Cozy Razor's Edge!
