"Huge riffs & grooves in a rock/hip-hop/metal/funk melting pot courtesy of these highly impressive newcomers" - SO:NI - Sound of Northern Ireland
wo bands down after two sensational performances and I was thinking the night could only get better. The alcohol at this point was flowing and everyone was getting merry and enjoying themselves both on and off the stage. Then just as I thought I could relax Green Monkey came on for the third performance of the night and proceeded to warp peoples minds with their groovy psychedelic rock and strange, but good, rap vocals.
Everyone in the Empire were watching them with intent to get into the mind of the singer, which I can only describe as a young Anthony Kiedis -fame of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. His timing on each verse or chorus were well timed and kept everyone hanging on his every word. - Gigging Northern Ireland

Bio
Green Monkey is a 4-piece
Hip-Hop / Funk / Rock band formed in Belfast, 2013. Their sound
developed from a mutual love of old school rap, big riffs, and tight
grooves; the result being an approach to hip-hop fusion popularised by
bands such as Public Enemy, Rage Against The Machine, Beastie Boys, Fun
Lovin' Criminals, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Live performances place
emphasis on crowd interaction - achieved through 'call and response'
style choruses and a balance between powerful, explosive riffs, and a
solid groove to throw some shapes to. With clever, bold lyrics delivered
with a rhythmic flow, Green Monkey display respect for the roots of
hip-hop whilst aiming to engage a broader audience to the genre.
Their first year as a band has seen a consistently
positive reception and a following which is growing quickly. The aim for
2014 is to continue to develop an interactive and exciting live show,
gain exposure to a wider audience, and to launch a debut record.
