In fact, within the first EP of four young members of the Toronto group, influences jostle loose; REM, The Cure, Slowdive and Dinosaur Jr. in the lead. But failed to find a kind, Greenhouse evolves from one title to another, not without mentioning a thousand and one memories of a bygone era, between dream pop, shoegaze, garage and post-rock, showing both of a touching otherwise brilliant mastery of instrumentation and both a full write of maturity and sensitivity.
How initially did not think Michael Stipe group listening to the title track of the EP. The sound very jangle pop of "Greenhouse" bringing us back wistfully at the time of the greatest successes of the Athenians ( "It's The End Of The World And We Know It" in mind). The desperate Quinn Fisher lyrics are wonderfully nebulous intentions but deeply poetic of four young musicians ( "Every time I lose my edge / End up right back / Where I wanted / Every time i lose my head / On the right path / Let's be honest / I guess I Could be more honest / With myself " ). A wandering distraught that crosses more frontally yet poignant "Hopeless" on the bottom of a rock indie gaming more responsible and Direct, and back in limbo on dream pop, typical picture of "New Years", resulting, to our surprise ending, just access aggressiveness aback, but beneficial.
Madly in shoegaze sound played as in the way, this is the very emotional "As I Boarded The Plane" that Greenhouse particularly impresses by its ability to live intensely, passionately his texts, with strength and accuracy without losing its means. Confirmation permitted by the ultimate "Part-Time" last phase of fighting depression and a troubled record of strong passions, gradually escaping from his interior fog to explode in a final saving post-rock fever.
This first EP therefore appears as an unfrozen work either in time or in kinds and much more akin to compiling test with brilliance and intelligence, the influences that give body and soul to the Canadian project since its inception. If pain yet to be defined singularly, Greenhouse treats us through a first recording the well established nostalgia. A work that way without drawing all mapped we can already glimpse the result under beautiful skies.

A fabulous debut from these Toronto based shoegaze upstarts. The title track is a bright laid back number full of rich textures that build up a bit of mystery and draw you in. The galloping beat of "Hopeless" sets the pace for it's soothing, free flowing brand of rock n roller highlighted by big guitars and an inviting matter of fact vocal attack. "New Years" and "As I Boarded The Plane" both show off more technical guitar playing that ventures into post rock territory accompanied with an experimental touch while the absolutely infectious spirit of "Part-Time" is a culmination of all the best aspects of the band as the musicianship and songwriting come together to create an astonishingly epic ending to this excellent release. - Custom Made Music

Bio
Atmosphere & Exploration~ two essential parts of the sonic experience in the eyes of Sacha Katz and Quinn Fisher, vocalists/guitarists/songwriters of the Toronto based four-piece Greenhouse. The two met when they were young at music camp. They played around in various bands and eventually began writing songs together. They brought on friends Hugh Hart and Misha Mykitiuk to play bass and drums, respectively. After exploring different genres and names, producing one EP and playing small shows around Toronto the group settled on a sound largely focused on atmosphere, inspired by the UK shoegaze bands of the 90's like My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive and Ride. After Mykitiuk left the band due to creative differences they called on Joe Flannigan, friend and drummer of another local band, Drive to join them.
Greenhouse, the name of one of their existing songs, was chosen as a band name. According to the band the song is about being vulnerable, something that the band allows them to be in an expressive way.
At the beginning of 2016, Greenhouse went into the studio. They chose Candle to be their music's home and Josh Korody & Leon Taheny to produce the project. Excited by the atmospheric scope available to them in a studio setting, Katz and Fisher set about layering their guitars and voices.
The result was a five-track EP which the band called "Greenhouse". Guitars laden with effects swell and dance around on top of Katz's and Fisher's harmonies creating a sense of sonic depth. The lyrics on the project are intentionally ambiguous, meant to mimic the feeling of "vague becoming" the lyricists feel as teenagers
"Greenhouse - EP" brought the band a larger audience, and they began to sell out their own shows in DIY spaces and moving on to bigger venues. It was featured in Elle (Spain), Custom Made Music and Indie Music Blog.
On March 8th, 2017 Greenhouse released their first music video - "Greenhouse"
The band has said that "Greenhouse" the song, a reworking of on old song of Kat'z, was the first one they played in their new style and the first song that they really felt pulled them in a direction they wanted to go in.
"Greenhouse" was directed by Aidan Cheeatow, a film student at York University. It is a visual representation of the sonic textures on the song which Katz has described as sounding like "a beautiful girl in ribbons dancing in a field". Part love song, part incoherent self reflection, Katz has stated that the song is about allowing oneself to be vulnerable.
