Brooklyn-based songwriting duo Alex Schechter and Lauren Smith are part of the folk pop group Greene Girl. They sing catchy, heartfelt, partly-electronic songs that center on themes of love, Brooklyn, and ghosts—though not necessarily in that order. They have played at many high profile NYC venues, including The Living Room, Southpaw, Glasslands and The Mercury Lounge and were given a showcase at New York's legendary music festival, CMJ.
A standout lineup of musicians went into the making of their newest EP, Little Rooms —most notably, the Grammy-winning producer David Seitz (REM, Moby, Natalie Merchant, Suzanne Vega). The album also features cellist Dave Eggar (Coldplay, Evanescence, Josh Groban), drummer Jared Schonig (Wynton Marsalis, Fred Hersch, Wycliffe Gordon), and bassist Mike Visceglia (Bruce Springsteen, Suzanne Vega, Dar Williams).
"What we love doing most," explains Alex Schechter, "is singing these songs for our friends. The Little Rooms story is about us, but also about other people, living in Brooklyn, and looking for ways to celebrate each other."
