While one of Brad Davis’s biggest claims to fame might very well be his “Double-Down-Up” guitar technique, there are two other things to note about Davis – he is not only a great picker, but quite the singer and songwriter. The Bluegrass Valley recording artist proves that on this exceptional disc that stands as one of the top Bluegrass Gospel albums I have heard in quite some time. The disc start off with the old-school sounds of “Road To Emmaus,” where his vocal approach definitely rises to the occasion. Besides, give him props for inserting the name of the rarely mentioned city from the Bible in the song. Other moments worth noting include the truly inspirational lyrics of “Down Every Dark Turn” and “God Amazes Me.” Vocally, Davis soars into the heavens with the glowing lyrics of “Way Beyond This Life,” which features some powerful lyrics about the faith that there’s something better on the other side. But, it’s not all sweet subjects on this album. If you are a believer, then you also know there is another “other” side, and Davis warns of that place on cuts like “Hell Fire” and “Never Give The Devil A Ride.” Both songs are potent reminders of the choices we have in life. But, one choice that is very much a safe one is picking up this album. I have a feeling you won’t regret it!

Brad Davis and John Jorgenson have been touring for the past three months and have stirred up fans all over the country. So much, that they have decided to write and record a duo guitar record together for the first time. I can't wait to set my ears on this project and watch the notes fly! Singer-songwriter Brad Davis released his newest bluegrass-gospel studio album “Walk on Faith” via his label, BlueGrass Valley Records.
He was awarded the 2012 “Texas Studio Musician of the Year” and he has worked with such classic country artists as Willie Nelson, the late Earl Scruggs, Emmylou Harris, Marty Stuart, Dwight Yoakam, Pam Tillis, among countless others.
He co-wrote eight out of the nine songs on the CD and he produced this project.
It opens with the upbeat Christian tune “Road to Emmaus” and it is followed by “Down Every Dark Turn” and the soothing “Way Beyond This Life,” the latter of which showcases his wide range and has a sound that is reminiscent of “Will The Circle Be Unbroken.”
His instrumental prowess is displayed on “Hell Fire” and “God Amazes Me” is an inspirational ballad.
Equally impressive vocals are “Never Give The Devil A Ride,” as well as “Black Sheep” and the uplifting title cut “Walk on Faith.” It closes with the acoustic yet compelling vocal “The Very Voice of God.”
The Verdict: Brad Davis’ new CD “Walk on Faith” is extremely well-done. He possesses one of the finest male voices in the bluegrass and gospel genres of music since Dan Tyminski. This nine-track collection is a real treat. - Digital Journal
