Bio
Taking listeners on a musical roller-coaster that spans multiple genres, the diverse musical background of the members of Goodbye Providence is evident in each song they play. What starts with a funk-infused, gritty verse may be followed by a soaring chorus in the California reggae / rock tradition, grabbing the audience and invoking the infectious head nodding that ultimately results in a communal dance party. If Beethoven, Ben Harper, Bob Marley, and Bono had a love child, it would bear a striking resemblance to Goodbye Providence.
What started as casual songwriting sessions on the back porch in Providence, Rhode Island with John Penrose and Stephen Cerasoli would soon evolve into the creative whirlwind that is now known as Goodbye Providence. Transplanting to Raleigh, NC to assemble the rest of the band , they found that the addition of keys, bass, and drums, (Nicolas Moreau, Paul Benner, and Lukas Barry) gave the songs new life, and the varied influences of each new musician added a different flavor to each track. Picture a classical piano melody over an ambient acoustic guitar and a fuzzy vintage bass sound, paired with fittingly smooth vocals and a tight, crisp drum groove, and you will have a small glimpse at the Goodbye Providence sound. Gaining momentum with each show, the group is poised to take the NC music scene and beyond by storm.
