Century Park's music festival this holiday offers a week-long musical bonanza with acts from the US, Ireland and China, writes Xu Wei.
This coming week-long May Day holiday, Shanghai music lovers will be offered a sumptuous feast of music. With the opening of the 2006 Shanghai Pudong International Music Carnival, cool music and entertaining performances, both home-grown and from abroad, will be on hand to refresh locals. ¡¡¡¡
The annual carnival to be held in Pudong's Century Park features popular bands from Ireland and the United States, such as Global Heat, New Blue Yonder and Powerplay, as well as American country icon Patricia Ryan and R&B star Vickie Natale.

Get ready for soulful female vocals, MC lyricists, guitar, flute, keyboards, bass, percussion, drums. On selected shows, world champion break dancers (b-boys/girls) join Global Heat to crank up the energy even more.

EXPERIENCE
Band members have performed in over 34 countries worldwide, including tours of China, Japan, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, and Vietnam. Credits include work with Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Usher, Gorillaz, Kanda Bongo Man, Roger Fisher (co-founder of Heart), and members of Rock Steady Crew, Massive Monkees, and MTV America’s Best Dance Crew Fresh Select. Members have shared billings with Blood, Sweat & Tears, Baaba Maal, Cee Lo Green (The Voice), Macklemore, and other renowned artists. Global Heat has headlined at the Shanghai (China) International Music Festival, at the largest stages on Northwest Folklife Festival, and at the amazing Montbleu Theatre at Lake Tahoe (as part of TRIBE-olution).
WORKSHOPS
Workshops in break dance, song-writing, and music production/DJ-ing are also available.
