Bio
GJ, Boston native recording artist, was scheduled to work with some of music industry’s biggest artists, managers, and producers when a destined encounter with one of his favorite music producers, Rodney Jerkins, caused him to put his projects on hold. The Christian R&B artist, who's been compared to the likes of Justin Timberlake, NeYo and Michael Jackson, was reminded of the need to be sold out to Christ first before embarking on his many music projects. After 10 years of producing tracks, this decision would prove to be the turning point in GJ’s young music career.
In 2007, GJ's big break came as a featured Gospel artist at Eagle Heights Church in Revere, MA for the concert segment of their REACH Night extravaganza, an event catering to the youth of Greater Boston. GJ was invited for an encore performance later that Fall with over 500 people in attendance. On both nights, not one person was left sitting as GJ took the stage and gave a memorable performance. God’s use of his gifts that night left GJ overwhelmed when 300 youths gave their hearts to Christ at the end of the night; leaving GJ on fire to reach the lost for Christ.
The events would also confirm that GJ had hit records on his hands. He began to put some serious time toward completing his first EP, “The Debut”, with original tracks produced by GJ himself. GJ was determined to deliver gospel music in a new package and has pioneered a new genre of gospel music, CHRISTIAN R&B. Focusing on relationship rather than religion, accessible lyrics and dance tracks rather than predictable and monotonous melodies, GJ's sound is both ground breaking and refreshing to the gospel music scene. On stage, his passion captivates his audience with every note and every move. It was that buzz around GJ that garnered invitations to perform at local churches, outreach programs as well as some of the major universities in Massachusetts, including UMass Boston, UMass Amherst and Tufts University, to name a few. “GJ's inaugural album, The Debut, was released online as a free download on January 15, 2009. Later that year, it became available on iTunes and other major online outlets. The EP, also released as a CD, was not only a local success but also harvested international sales, reaching new fans around the world.
Understanding that with no risk comes no reward, GJ continues to push himself, as both artist and producer to reach new hearts with the GOOD NEWS of Christ. In January 2010, GJ will release a remixed and re-mastered deluxe version of his successful EP, titled “The Debut – Special Edition.” GJ is also currently at work on his first full length LP, “The Life of a King” which is scheduled to be released late 2010.
