Kitchener-Waterloo’s G Jones lets loose “Watch The Funk”, the title track off his upcoming sophomore album, due out February 2013. With a funk sound drawing influence from hip-hop, this isn’t your traditional hip-hop feel, but the energy Jones brings is infectious. Chances are, you’ll recognize the horns (sampled from the 1973 film Shaft in Africa). Bio
My name is G Jones. I'm a 22 year old hip hop artist with one album wrapped up and my sophomore album, Watch The Funk, set to release February 2013.
My music is something unheard of thus far, I've taken pride in infusing the funk sound, attitude and lyrical significance to the world of hip hop, creating something that I believe will be sure to leave an audience ecstatic.
I have a ton of live performance experience, performing - at the very least - once a month for the past two years. Although I haven't reached a festival yet, I've packed in 100+ people to my shows and I can't wait for the opportunity to finally give a real show to a huge crowd. Trust me when I say I'm a ball of fire on stage because I love the music and I feel it's a necessity to have good energy so that can reach my audience. Nothing makes me happier than an audience that's dancing as much as I am.
I've managed to breach the radio barrier, topping charts on Canada's East and West coast, as well as Kingston, Guelph and Kitchener-Waterloo with my debut album. As well as radio I've gotten reviewed on The Come Up, a site dedicated to up and coming hip hop artists. I'll be honest and say I'm proud of my achievements, but I'm yearning for more.
I'm in the hip hop world to make people dance, spread a positive message and lift spirits to the point that it doesn't matter where they are or who they're with they'll want to pass on my music to share the joy and excitement.
This is my talent and I'm prepared to give everything I have to reach the ears of the most unlikely strangers. Ready to ryhme any time, any where and make sure to give a show that people will not soon forget.
