This is the debut album from the Nashville based five piece, fronted by the sweet voiced singer/songwriter Georgia English. This album consists of eleven numbers, ten of which have been written by English and combine elements from both modern and past genes of music. For a first album, she demonstrates a mature voice, her busking roots, from early teenage years in subway stations and after hours bars, standing her in good stead. There are a variety of styles laid down here with varying input from her band. What she does best I believe, are the slower, ballad style numbers. Her voice has a melancholic, soft and fragile quality to it, best suited to the intimacy of an unhurried number. She is well supported by band, the Jukebox Kids who contribute an assortment of instruments including pedal steel and organ. Georgia herself sings and plays both guitar and saxophone and her song writing displays both vulnerability and humour. “Good Girls” is an Americana roots album with contemporary styling. The blues piano backing on several of the tracks is well suited to the fresher, more modern take on many of the songs and the pedal steel adds an authenticity. If you fancy a little of the traditional merged with something new, then this is probably for you. A very promising debut album. - Americana UK
Local Americana five-piece Georgia English and the Jukebox Kids have just independently released their debut full-length, Good Girls, and are one of the many bands set to play Nashville’s Ink N Iron festival in August. English developed her rootsy soul sound busking as a teenager in the subway stations of San Francisco, and her humorous Americana will fit in well with the other acts playing the widely diverse bill during the four days of first ever Nashville version of Ink N Iron, a long-running staple in Long Beach, California. English has had her songwriting recognized by the Berklee College of Music of music, and had a song featured in the Martin Sheen and Justin Long-starring film Ask Me Anything.
The Ink N Iron festival will host its first Nashville installment from August 6-9 at Bicentennial Park, featuring performances from Merle Haggard, The Misfits, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Wanda Jackson, and many more, as well as classic car shows, biker rallies, tattoo showcases from renowned artists around the world, and pinup shows. The whole thing will be like a giant festival homage to vintage, classic rebel culture with country, rockabilly, and alternative music. Check out the funny diddy “Chasing After You” after the jump, and sign up for the chance to win passes to Ink N Iron, which is sure to be a rip-roarin’ good time, here. - No Country for New Nashville

Bio
Georgia English is a songwriter and performer residing in Nashville, TN. Her unique songwriting voice blends the tangled roots of Americana music with a contemporary female perspective, flourishing in the space between humor and melancholy.
English has released two full-length albums, Good Girls (2015), and Learn to Drive (2019), which were highly acclaimed in the indie-music circuit. About Learn to Drive, Comeherefloyd states "The deep and unique songwriting prowess of Georgia can be seen from 10,000 feet up, where the obvious thoughtfulness and execution comes through with flying colors."
English developed her voice and songwriting by busking in San Francisco subway stations as a teenager and learning from seasoned roots musicians. Monterrey County Weekly calls her “an invigorating blend of modern and retro.” Since then, she has shared the stage with artists such as Jim Lauderdale, Joan Osborne, The California Honeydrops, and Son Little.
Currently, Georgia is preparing for the release of her upcoming illustrated album, "Pain and Power," that documents English’s personal healing by following the ancient Hero’s Journey tradition, also known as the mono myth.
The project has two components: a full-length album, produced in partnership with Josh Preston (of Me and the Machine Records), who played all the instruments, and an accompanying physical book containing color-pencil illustrations and lyrics of each song.
The full-length album is set to release July 30th, 2021.
