Bio
Gavin grew up in Hermitage, Newfoundland - a beautiful albeit quiet outport that stirred his imagination.
At 12, Gavin started picking away at the guitar - making up chords and teaching himself how to play along
to the likes of John Mellencamp, Tom Petty and The Jayhawks.
It was more than a decade later, after working several years as a journalist, before Gavin decided it
was time to finally start a band. He got some friends together in 2009 and they called themselves
ColdRiverChoir. For two years they played non-stop and made a name for themselves around St. John’s
with their take on folk-roots music.
In late 2011 the band called it a day and Gavin kept writing new songs and working with a full-on folk
group. Wasting no time, they went into the studio in the summer of 2012 and made an album.
Since the album's release in March, 2013, Gavin has been touring the Atlantic provinces, both with his band and as a solo artist. The intimate shows have left audiences inspired and wanting more.
