"This is sublime, electronic synth pop that mostly sounds pretty. But sometimes it sounds like heartbreak and at other times it just sounds like a party in heaven (which is one of their song titles and it's perfect). Future of What are propelled by Blair's bright, enchanting vocals, which can be compared a little bit to Olga Bell or maybe Purity Ring's Megan James. Her voice is forceful but unencumbered. I'd be perfectly fine floating away to this..." - Oh My Rockness
"In 2011, the New Orleans-via-Brooklyn singer/songwriter Blair formed a four-piece, Future of What, to follow the electronic leanings hinted on her great 2010 LP, Die Young, down through the rabbit hole of full-on synth pop. On Moonstruck, the group’s first EP, Blair sings like she’s a cloud, big but light and never rushed, her voice swinging unexpectedly higher when the emotional wind hits just right. The EP’s closer and only song over four minutes, 'Party In Heaven,' stands out especially, with the whole record coming to a head in a solid minute of repeating the sort of half-truth you tell yourself that never makes you feel better: A heartbreak, just a moment in time." - THE FADER
"The band's debut EP, Moonstruck, officially comes out Tuesday (although you can download and stream it below right now). The four songs operate in a cloudy, poppy space with a synthy foundation in solid song craft. A couple of weeks ago, Sound of the City caught up with Blair and Sam in the backyard of a Greenpoint bar and chatted about their sound, songwriting, and how being in a band is pretty much like being in a gang." - Village Voice

"... debut EP Moonstruck shows a band wise well beyond its months. Fellow borough-dwellers Chairlift are an obvious reference point." - NME

Bio
The members of Future of What--Blair Gimma, Max Kotelchuck, and Sam Axelrod--were raised in the '80s and '90s in used car lots, high-rises, and college towns. Now they live in Brooklyn. They are animal people. They used to play in louder bands. They formed in early 2012. They are cooks, carpenters, and students. They made the "Moonstruck" EP in a number of days shortly after forming the band. They are in the process of stretching out a bit and making their first full-length album. They are trying to make the planet a slightly softer and more comfortable place with their music. They're dreamers.
