Last Saturday I had the pleasure of judging Raw Deal Productions’ Battle of the Bands
X at Red Eyed Fly. I represented INsite Magazine for the second time on the judging panel and this was the first time since I took over Music Editor duties for the publication.
I was joined on the panel by Sal Silva of CDFuse.com and KLBJ evening DJ B-Doe.

For the Most Part has been a collection of raw talent, witty comebacks, and a love for all that is emotion since late 2006.
For the Most Part proves that a band of such different backgrounds and influences can avoid the generic Austin band stereotype. From the rice fields of Southeast Texas, the shores of the Gulf Coast, the rhythm of New York, and the independent, local vision that embodies Austin, we offer our vision of metal, melody, and musicianship.
Not new to the Austin music scene, For the Most Part displays a collaborative efforts of varying styles and experiences. Singer Griff Clipson has been singing on and off stage for several years and spits rhymes and melodies that melts faces. Bassist and backup vocalist Major Hoffman is an experienced stage performer with two bands under his belt and countless performances in and around south Texas and the Austin area. Together, this duo provide a tightly woven vocal harmony and a brazen backbone with Drummer Chris Hall. Chris has been in numerous bands in while growing up in Austin and is an experienced thrash metal drummer that exhibits heart racing solos and gut wrenching breakdowns. Guitarist Allen Lamme has studied at the University of Texas for Classical Guitar and taught at the National Guitar Workshop for three years. Allen and brings the technical prowess and ability that sets a new standard for this heavy hitting act. Guitarist Devin Turner, rounds out For the Most Part with his self-taught abilities and intuitive fingerstylings.
Claiming no scene, the band will do anything to get their self-reflective song styling, driving beats and screaming anthems to anyone willing to give us a chance. Give them five minutes, and they'll give you six.
