Ok, you got me. I’m intrigued.
Trew is a rapper from Virginia seemingly going full force into the music scene. Right from the get-go I can see his intent to work with musicians from all over the spectrum. Poking around on Soundcloud one of his tracks caught my eye, one that said “featuring Casey Shea.” The guy who sang, “Love Is Here To Stay.” Yes, him.
“Miles” immediately breaks open with a simple acoustic riff and a heavy, thumping beat. Trew’s got an extremely listener-friendly sound that seems meant to dominate the air waves this summer. Add Casey Shea’s already adored voice and it sounds like truly like a cohesive mix. - Whats Protocol
...introducing you to a great hip-hop/alternative music artist, James Crockett aka Trew Music. He is from Virginia and his music seems to be greatly influenced by the many genres of music he listened to while growing up. - Creative Recklessness Magazine
“Tomorrow” featuring Simon P and Trew, another Dox 1 heatrock, is a possible summer anthem where each mc finds their comfort zone. The hook’s vocals, the la lalalalalaaaaa, are absolutely infectious. - Bmoore.net
Like many other rappers, Trew began his career winning rap battles in his home state of Virginia. Since then he has earned respect in many underground scenes from Virginia to New York, California to New Jersey. And even though Trew has yet to hit the mainstream, he drips swagger. His flow is smooth, his delivery and attitude just shy of cocky. Regardless, Trew is a student of hip-hop. - Urb Magazine
"Virginia rapper Trew adds a ferocious bridge to “You’re A Crumb, I’m Ole.”"
- Alternative Press
Good Songs! We are really impressed with the total package!
- Hardcore jamz
Trew has a certain swagger and is primarily about showing off his making abilities and as such has an amount of surpurflous lyrics, but at the same time crosses many of Hip Hops genres. So whilst he can do the slushy and the blinging type tracks he can also drop a good flow and impress on more serious offerings. Trew's rhymes endorse his own blue collar experiences: school, love, working the 9 to 5 and living the everyday struggle. Trew's patented gangsta lean is heard throughout every lyric he writes. His witty personality, along with his candor about every day life is not only brutally honest… but very refreshing. - www.britishhiphop.co.uk
