"Live Review - support for The Go! Team (UK) & The Grates (AU)"

"Acknowledge the magnitude of what we are dealing with here - this very band is the best this town has seen in years. A four piece with on foot entrenched in the past (Wire, XTC, Talking Heads, The Ex and all the good stuff) and another in some ethereal neverland, they rip through an incendiary set leaving all posers in their wake.

There is a passion and integrity here that can never be learned, but only earned, and I only hope that more bands remember what the whole point of this thing was in the first place. Don't trust my judgement alone, check them out yourself." - Rave Magazine (AU)

"Flamingo Crash NME Blurb"

The smarter Yanks (Glass Candy, Chromatics) are throwing sharp angles and soft shapes, freaking out to the cool sound of post-disco. The smarter Aussies are, too - Flamingo Crash mix post-Brooklyn hipster swagger with a kid who drums like he's the new Clem Burke from Blondie to dance rhythms as sharp as MIA's. Check out: 'Yes? Yes? Yes?' from debut album 'Triangle Island'. - Everett True - NME (UK)

"Flamingo Crash Brag Article"

"By the time you read this, the buzz surrounding punk-funk juggernauts Flamingo Crash will be so loud that your ears will bleed. This Friday at MUM will probably be your last opportunity to get within spitting distance of these badasses before they take over the world." - The Brag Magazine (Sydney)

"'Triangle Island' Album Review"

If any sense was left within the heads of music buyers these days, than Flamingo Crash would be huge. Not only has this trail-blazing outfit experienced a comfortable success to date, but they refuse to rest on their laurels while continuing to push the sonic envelope.

Triangle Island is their debut longplayer and is, put quite simply everything a pop/rock album should be. It's a glorious collision of genres that brilliantly reveals the individual talents within the band, exuding an incredible musicianship and a natural songwriting ease, all the while keeping their pop sensibilities firmly in tact. Where this just might be the point where a band sells out to be trendy Flamingo Crash pull off a rarity and effortlessly walk that fine, fine line that blurs the indie cool and original with the cool side of commercial music. Sure, the influences are there from Talking Heads to XTC- and they could sit nicely next to The Cops expanding on what Regurgitator have done in the last decade. But rather than blatantly ripping off those that precede the, these influences can only really be sensed within the broad scope of sounds provided here. 'It's Mystery Music' kicks off proceedings in the funkiest of fashions, showing off a tidy keyboard riff over a danceable drum beat that soon shares the limelight with a stab of sexy saxophone. Subsequent tracks 'Yes? Yes? Yes?' and 'Shoot The Lights Out' are frantic rock numbers that keep one eye firmly on the dancefloor, while 'The Fire Song' is an instant frenzy of infectious melodies and hooky choruses.

Overall, a triumph for Flamingo Crash and a colourful take on indie rock that is sure to turn more than a few heads. - Ben Preece - Time Off Magazine (AU)

"'Triangle Island' Album Review"

"With expectations high by fans and critics alike, the Crash have delivered on their introductory long-player, and seem to have achieved a mature, refined sound.

Opening with the spectacular sound of It’s Mystery Music, the act place their feet firmly on either side of the boundary of conventional-experimental style, crafting a crisp, jiveable sound. Following track Yes? Yes? Yes? sounds as fresh as ever, while previous vinyl release Shoot The Lights Out adds a bouncier dose of reckless pop to the proceedings, succeeding where many art-punk acts fail in terms of delivering catchy, quasi-experimental tunes.

Catchiness is maintained throughout the midway point of the album, as The Fire Song, Beijing Holiday, and the groovy S.T.F.U. allow the band to soar back toward unconventional airspace. They then swoop back with Sister Sister (I Hate The Wind But I Lovekiss The Breeze), before rising once more with Mountains for a trip-like flight through psychedelic electronica. The album streamlines once more for the final two tracks Smartbomb and Toys, ending the record with a great combination of pop, punk, electronica." - FasterLouder.com (AU)

"Live Review - supporting Louis XIV (USA)"

“Flamingo Crash effortlessly stole the stage and made it their own, exuding incredible energy. Dressed to the nines, they’ve created a ‘new new-wave’ fashion style which gave them a intense visual impression as a band, while of them sport a uniform rainbow-block insignia. The band had incredible cohesion, along with a very cutting-edge sound. Their showmanship was impressively full-on, with a stage dynamic very reminiscent of the B-52s.

It seems Flamingo Crash are creating their own genre of sound, mixing newer synth rock styles with the guitar work of late 70’s punk like Wire. Their innovative songwriting was evident as they moved from well-known songs such as radio hit ‘Yes Yes Yes’, to their recent releases, such as set closer ‘Smart Bomb.'

As they left, I concluded they’d just become one of my favourite bands.” - The Dwarf (AU)

"'Triangle Island' Blog Article"

"Flamingo Crash are the latest band to join the ranks of fellow Australian natives The Grates, Wolfmother, You Am I, and Wolf & Cub in gaining a steady following overseas. The thing that separates Flamingo Crash from most of the rest is their eye-catching diversity, providing a fresh and engaging sound." - obscuresounds.com (US)

"'Triangle Island' Album Review"

“If there’s a shred of sensibility and common sense left in the music world Flamingo Crash will be huge. This is like Talking Heads with electro beats. Wire meets Fisherspooner. It's wonderful! Now I will let the music do the talking.” - rocksellout.com (US)

"'Shoot the Lights Out' 7""

'Shoot The Lights Out' is a perfectly polished fusion of underlying electronics, catchy hooks and a killer chorus. It’s fun electronic pop not disguised as anything else, which is a welcome rarity these days. After just one listen you will find it incredibly difficult to detach from your brain whilst wishing you had written it...thank heavens for the vocals which bring me back to reality, once again ticking all the boxes in this weird but wonderful sound.” - NEON BUZZ MAGAZINE (UK)

Flamingo Crash make music to celebrate music. Coming up in Australia's new scene currently trickling across the globe, the band independently released their debut album TRIANGLE ISLAND in late '08 after releasing only a handful of singles. The response to the album was extraordinary (#10 Australian Independent charts, Album of the Week Drum, Rave Mag, Drum Media, High rotation on National Australian Radio Triple J) and the band have spent the last six months touring extensively including 2 headline tours of Japan, constant Australian touring, national tours with Maximo Park (UK) and Operator Please and supports for The Bravery, Ratatat, Diamond Nights, VHS or Beta, Lily Allen, The Go! Team, Louis XIV, Infadels, Love is All, Die! Die! Die!, You Am I, The Presets. They've also appeared at The Essential Festival, Come Together Festival @ Sydney Harbour, Festival of the Sun and showcases at the BIGSOUND Music Conference '07 and '08.

Triangle Island was produced in Australia by Magoo (An Horse, Gerling) and mastered in NYC by Steve Fallone (The Strokes, Sonic Youth, TV on the Radio). This year the band was nominated twice in the annual QSong Music Awards, for Best Album and the People's Choice Awards. The bands music has also been featured in VICE Magazine CD/DVD, licensed for the documentary soundtrack 'Love Like Blood' for SBS Television Australia, and single 'Shoot the Lights Out' licensed for a national VOLVO Ad on Australian TV. Band members have also been busy collaborating recently, singer/songwriter Isaac Emmanuel co-writing tracks for more established acts, and drummer Matthew Harrison recently completing a fill-in world tour including Europe, UK and North America with iconic 80's Rough Trade band The Go-Betweens.

SugarRush Records also recently featured Flamingo Crash on its college sampler in May '09 with single 'Yes? Yes? Yes?' picked up by 16 College Radio Stations across the US. The band was also recently featured as the CMJ Sonicbids Spotlight Artist in June '09.

Flamingo Crash are currently recording their sophomore album in Melbourne, release the first single October 09, with debut UK and US (East Coast) shows and a return tour of Japan in late '09.
