This band is as enigmatic as their name, but their lineup reads like a well-crafted resume:
Chris Schadler, Vocals/Guitar (Fairmount Girls, Neato Torpedo, Spiderfoot)
Donna Jay Rubin, Vocals/Guitar (Snake Punching Contest)
Mike Weinel, Bass (The High & Low, Heartless Bastards, The Pariahs)
Cedric Rose, Drums (The Underwoods, Jake Speed and the Freddies)
This grouping of well-known local musicians into a new format spells intrigue. The only way to really know how they sound is to hear them live. Luckily, they have a show this Saturday at The Northside Tavern, starting at 10:30 p.m. No cover.
- Zeit Productions
Conceived by songwriters Donna Jay Rubin and Chris Schadler upon Rubin’s return from the West coast, Fists of Love began as a three-piece joined by drummer Mathew Arnold (Mallory) in 2008. Cedric Rose soon replaced Arnold on drums and shortly thereafter the band became a four-piece when Mike Weinel (High and Low, Brian Olive) joined on bass. Nearly a year later Mike was replaced by John Curley, and the four continue to play and contribute to Cincinnati’s music scene.
Fists of Love’s sound can be likened to existential drama rock. With sonic in?uences ranging from Bo Diddley to Pink Floyd to The Flaming Lips, they range from psychedelic rock to edgy, dark melodies. - Insomnia Radio / IR: Daily Dose

Bio
Fists of Love play and record against the post-industrial backdrop of Cincinnati's Mill Creek Valley. Conceived by songwriters Donna Jay Rubin (Snake Punching Contest) and Chris Schadler (Fairmount Girls) upon Rubin's return from the west coast, the band began as a 3-piece joined by drummer Mathew Arnold (Mallory) in 2008. Cedric Rose soon replaced Arnold on drums. F.O.L. shortly thereafter became a 4-piece when joined by Mike Weinel (High and Low, Brian Olive band) on bass. Mike played with the group for nearly a year. Recently joined by John Curley (Afghan Whigs, Staggering Statistics) on bass, the four friends continue to play and record amongst the vibrant talent of the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky music community. Other contributing musicians have included Eric Bingham (The Griefs) and Dan McCabe (The Kiss me Everlasting). The Fists Of Love debut EP, recorded by Brian Olive at the Diamonds Studio as well as some tracks recorded by John Curley, at Ultrasuede is now out on Cincinnati's own All Night Party Label.
