Bio

Fists are an experimental indie-rock band that live and write out of a tiny bedroom studio above a video shop in central Nottingham. They formed in 2006 around a 4-track tape machine; drum kit, practice amp, washboard and a raft of junked keyboards. They cite the experimental home-recorded 50s pop of producer Joe Meek, lo-fi cassette pioneers such as Daniel Johnston and Simon Joyner and an armload of thrash metal, punk and indie-rock records from the 80s and 90s as influences.

Their music is characterised by it's wonky country twang, vintage heavy metal bass runs, pounding drums and reverb drenched electric guitars that awkwardly underpins their wildly changeable music.

They have toured and played extensively with the likes of Obits, The Vaselines, Sparrow and the Workshop, Let’s Wrestle, Cryptacize, Cowtown, Please, Warm Brains, Lords and Beards and have appeared at numerous festivals such as Glastonbury (BBC Introducing), Dot to Dot, Y Not and Truck over the past couple of years.

To date they’ve released two critically acclaimed 7” inch singles (Cockatoo/Skit & Ascending/Stag) and a 4-track EP (Olympic Hits) through Midland’s based DIY label Hello Thor.
