Bio
Fifty Year Flood is the ass-kicking musical brainchild of Ken and Elise Jones, John Dzubay, Chris Stivers, Art Lubin, and James Kamp. Ken and Elise have been making music together for fifteen years, and have released two cd's in the last four years -- It Smells Like Rain, under the moniker Slim Jim Swim Fins, and, in 2006, Fifty Year Flood's In the Moment. In 2007, they were joined by drummer John Dzubay, who brought another creative layer to the band's sound with his infectious jangle-pop songwriting abilities. Spring of 2008 saw the band recruit guitarist Chris Stivers, and in October, 2008, the band's creative vision was finally realized with the additions of bassist Art Lubin and multi-instrumentalist James Kamp. In just a few weeks, Fifty Year Flood has redefined itself as one of Western Carolina's most promising new rock bands, and are itching to share their original tunes with the area's discerning music glitterati. Influences include Iron & Wine, Neil Young, Farmer Not So John, Kathleen Edwards, Gomez, Tom Waits, Gillian Welch, Ween, The New Pornographers, Lucinda Williams, PJ Harvey, Alejandro Escovedo, The Replacements, Richard Thompson, Led Zeppelin, Elvis C, REM, The Pixies, The Beatles, Spoon, Johnny Cash, Ryan Adams, The Stones, The Shins, Buddy & Julie Miller, Emmylou Harris, Blind Melon, Wilco, Big Star, Elliot Smith, The Sadies
