Songwriter Caleb Stull used to front Vancouver's Parlour Steps, but following the dissolution of that band, he has since gone on to found a new project called Field Study. His debut under the new moniker, Feverland, is out on October 15 through Nine Mile Records.
The record was created with input from album guests Ryan Guldemond (Mother Mother), Debra-Jean Creelman (ex-Mother Mother), Adaline, Kenton Leowen (the Crackling, Dan Mangan), Johnny Andrews (ex-Tegan and Sara, ex-Rococode) and Shaun Huberts (ex-Tegan and Sara, Rococode).
It took Stull more than two years to complete Feverland, and a press release explains, "2011 and 2012 ended up being a challenging time of gypsy travel, heartbreak and a mini-loss of innocence." In that time, he moved to Berlin before relocating to Toronto and many of the songs were about that experience.
"It's wonderfully liberating. Toronto is so much larger, louder," Stull said in a statement. "There are more audiences on the fringe waiting for work that rejects the generic and safe. It pushes me creatively, to believe in wilder and crazier ideas."
