Fall of Spring
We last wrote about DJ Porter when he was part of Leslie Carter’s
The Other Half. The experience got him on MuchMusic and the
cable program “The House of Carters” but when he left that band
he originally started working behind the scenes as producer in his
own basement studio. That was until Dee Muszynski came in to
record a song and the two immediately discovered something
special.
“While we were recording the song ‘Broken Hearted’ there
was an instant connection,” says Porter. “We have both worked
with other musicians in the past and realized that we had great
writing chemistry right from the start.”
The pair began writing a wealth of very radio friendly pop
punk songs and enlisted guitarist Jose Batista (ex The Other Half,
ex Circuit For The Blackout, ex Joyride) and drummer Tom
Dawson (ex Joyride) to develop the live band. Produced by Paul
Rousell at Porter’s Five Stone Studios, 25 songs were whittled to
10 for the newly christened Fall of Spring’s debut CD, I Apologize
in Advance, which will be released at their live debut this
weekend.
“I listen to things that are driven by melody, something you
can sing or dance to and makes you feel upbeat – something that
makes you want to turn up the volume and just blast the sound
through your speakers,” reasons Muszynski on the band’s musical
motif. “We’ve been focusing on recording and rehearsing enough
to sound like a solid and tight unit. As a band, we all get along
really great and everyone is really open, which is very important.
“There’s so much hype to this show and we have so many
people coming out, it’s crazy to think that this is our debut show.
But don’t let that fool anyone to thinking it’s going to be
amateur,” adds the singer. “We all love to perform and have so
much energy to share that the show will be entertaining and
interactive.“There will be energy, there will be comedy, and most
importantly there will be music,” smiles Porter. “We want to come
out guns blazing.”
Fall Of Spring play this Friday July 17 at The Corktown with All For

Bio
Fall of Spring is the new definition of 'Pop-Punk' in the unsigned world of Canadian music.
With the strong vocals of Dee Muszynski portrayed throughout the recordings as well as live, the energy and stage show leaves the audience with something unobtainable through simple audio. With a tight rhythm section composed of Ty Howie (Bass) and Erik Thorkildsen (Drums) along with crunchy guitar hooks by Mike Dojcsak, these 4 give it their all, every performance. "... First time in 4 year's I've wanted to shake my ass, thumbs up for that" - Lindsay Edwards of B.E.B. Consulting.
Independently booking and playing over 100 shows in less than 18 months, Fall of Spring has shared the stage with many such acts as "Wheatus", "The Salads", "USS", "Moneen", "Social Code" and "Paper Lions".
With their debut album "I Apologize in Advance" recorded by Paul Roussel (40 Sons, Dead and Divine, Dean Lickyer). The band received a nomination for "Best New Artist" at the Hamilton Music Awards in the winter of 2009. Their foot print on the music scene in their home town had just begun. The following year Fall of Spring was selected to be apart of the Indie FM, Mohawk College Radio's, "Sounds of the Hammer" with their song "Running Scared" recorded by award winning Justin Koop (Billy Talent, Artist Life, Silverstein).
With the fresh start of 2011, you can expect nothing less than the pattern of success to follow this band into the future. Currently working with Vincent Sciara (Lo-Fi, Skye Sweetnam) on new tracks and writing more music for their next album, you can expect this quartet to only pick up momentum as time goes on.
