Bio
Fairway Holiday is a Funk/Rock/Jam Band out of Lawrence, Kansas. They started off as jam sessions with bassist Wint Doering and drummer Nick Chininis. Then on the quest to find a guitarist that "fit" they played one night with guitarist Taylor Boyd, and immediately hit off. Charlie Bock was then added on vocals and saxophone. Charlie is currently studying at the University of Southern California, and Oliver Hughes is replacing his spot as the singer.
Fairway Holiday is breaking musical grounds, but at the same time holding onto much of the popular and already existent music today. They feature the bass guitar as a lead instrument, such as Jaco Pastorius in Weather Report. The drums have a funky Carter Beauford feel with syncopation on the hi-hat, but with the solid groove of Steve Jordan. The guitar has a funky and Jimmy Pageish feel, with incredible tone. Then a set of beautiful melodies on top of the laid down instrumentation completes the sound of Fairway Holiday.
When coming out to see FH live, you will experience a very professional and entertaining show. They play all of their music in a order at flowing pace that takes you through a journey of music. Influences include Dave Matthews Band, Weather Report, Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers.
