Evan Roman

I know I’m tad late to the party, but this one couldn’t go unnoticed. The whole purpose of me sharing all sorts of music with you guys is to spread the unknown talents to the masses. Take Evan Roman for one, the St. Louis-born Los Angeles-based songstress revealed a solo EP a couple months back, and during my daily blogosphere stroll, I happened to come across the project (in which I found out about through a lone tweet from Macklemore) and immediately decided to give the tape a full-length top-to-bottom listen. Remember those flawless vocals that were placed on Macklemore’s The Heist-featured number, “A Wake?” Well, those sounds melting the hook are that of Evan Roman. So, long story short I figured it was only right if I shared my personal favorite jam in “Washington,” which you can stream below, with all of you. Those of you who have heard Macklemore’s 2005 album, Language of My World,& his latest, The Heist, should be very familiar with Evan Roman. She was a prominent voice on LOMW and was brought back appropriately seven years later on Mack & Ryan’s breakthrough debut occuring on “A Wake”.

On her own, Evan Roman had released her debut album, Dirty Pipes, in 2009 and then proceeded to drop a pair of EPs with her group, Plum, who we have posted about before.

Que the present, and it seems that Evan is set to take another stab at the success that solo endeavors have to offer. The release of her new six-track EP, Lots of Love, is an effort that spans across a gorgeous palette of minimal instrumentation that allows for Roman’s jaw-dropping vocals to command the attention they deserve.
