Esther Ku, actor and comedienne, has teamed up with her sister Po from California to do some stage and Web TV performances here at Bennett Media Studio. Both sisters sing as well, which beckons from their music (and Church) Family in Chicago. I first met Esther at the filming of the TV series ” White Collar” here at the Studio. She then introduced me to her sister, and a new duo was formed from which different artistic projects are being launched. We did a test video project, a spoof on the Tiger Woods incident. And we also had Esther and Po compete on stage at the Manhattan Monologue Slam, which is being presented here at Bennett Media Studio monthly. (New dates are Jan. 29th, Feb. 26th, and March 26th., all fridays). Esther is very active in the Comedy Club circuit, and takes on TV roles as well. Po went on stage for the first time on friday, December 18th, competing at the Monologue Slam against 22 others. She won although she is ostensibly the least trained. - Bennett Media Studios
Esther Ku went from being fired from a job for laughing excessively to a career in which she makes people laugh. The Korean humorist was let go by Sharpie after being deemed a bit too carefree during meetings…. But Ku still laughs a lot. She believes the reason she was kicked off of “Last Comic Standing Season 6? was because of her constant laugh. The saucy Ku, who will perform tomorrow night at Catch a Rising Star in Princeton, has been entertaining ever since she was a tyke…. Ku has gone from prim and proper performer to salacious stand-up. “I talk about my sex life onstage,” Ku said. “I love to go up there and talk frankly about sex. Men talk about sex and bash women. But women aren’t supposed to talk about sex. We’re supposed to be ladylike. It’s a ridiculous double standard. I’m trying to bring equality to my shows.” - MyCentralJersey.com
Ku works this wacky Asian Stoner Valley Girl routine that is wildly vulgar and so funny that you might start crying in the middle of her routine. She was also one of the few comedians who had the audience laughing–and not in that polite way–as soon as she stepped on the stage. The line, “These balls are huge, and oh-so-furry!” rattled on in our heads after the show. When she didn’t make it, many audience members were visibly surprised. - Bostonist

Bio
Esther Ku is a stand up comedian. She can currently be seen as a regular cast member on MTV's new female-driven comedy series GIRLCODE. She can be seen in the new comedy movie The Cookout 2 alongside Ja Rule, Charlie Murphy and Mike Tyson. Ku was selected as the only female comedian from New York City to advance to the Las Vegas Semi-Finals in Season 6 of NBCs Last Comic Standing. She then advanced to the house portion of the show in Hollywood to become a Last Comic Standing Season 6 Finalist.
Howard Stern selected her as a finalist in the Hottest Funniest Chick Contest on Sirius Satellite Radio. Stern called her "The killer combo: hot and funny; the contestant that kept the crew laughing the entire time." You may have also heard her on the Opie & Anthony Show, Playboy Radio, Comical Radio, and Hick Hop Radio.
Ku is a working comic who also incorporates hilarious song parodies into her act. Ku spends her days rewriting lyrics to her favorite oldies songs such as turning "My Boyfriend's Back" to "My Boyfriend's Black" among others.
She has been a featured regular in the Boston International Comedy Festival and the New York Underground Comedy Festival. She has performed in the hit comedy Shear Madness, the longest-running non-musical play in American theatre history.
On her spare time, she manages to dedicate her energy to a serious and troublesome cause to end tickling forever. Tickling is forcing someone to laugh when youre not being funny. Tickling is the opposite of comedy. If youve ever tickled anyone, youre a fraud! she warns.
The daughter of missionaries, Ku was born in Chicago. Ku was fired from a job as a Sharpie sales representative for laughing too much, which she claims caused her to explore doing comedy.
She has been reviewed favorably in many media outlets in both English and the Korean language including the Boston Globe, The Friars Epistle, The Boston Herald, The Korea Daily News, IMDB and The Red Eye.
