On June 15th the original sound of Heavy Metal collided and bonded with the Rock from the 80s and progressive modern Metal.
Black Sabbitch – the Los Angeles-based all-female Black Sabbath Tribute – headlined a show at El Corazon that also included End Status and Iron Dragon.
End Status opened the show with their modern take on Metal; a driving beat, deep vocals, and heavy bass are hallmarks for their music. The band members are Derreck Engel on vocals, BJ “Jeb” Schreib on Drums, Cicero Fortier on Guitars, and Mako Rai on Bass.
I caught up with Derreck recently and asked him about their set. “Overall, I think the night went very well,” he said. “The staff at El Corazon were friendly, helpful, and on top of their game which, for us, made load-in, setup, and sound check an enjoyable experience.”
I arrived at El Corazon early enough to catch their soundcheck and was impressed by the band’s ability to blend a unique percussion line with tradition fuzz and detailed bass. Derreck’s vocals are edgy and raw. He told me that End Status is fairly new.
“We’ve just recently started playing venues, so we were definitely taking notes and looking for things to improve on, but I’m very pleased with our performance overall.”
Part of his pleasure came from the fans. “I enjoyed seeing people’s reaction to us and to our music as we played,” he said. “I saw a few heads bobbing and hips moving out in the crowd. Good times for sure. Both Iron Dragon and Black Sabbitch did very well and put on a good show.” - Nehi Stripes Musiczine

Bio
End Status represents the duality of man. The disicions made throughout life created alternate versions of ones self. One engulfed in the order and beauty of life, and the other shrouded in darkness and plummeting into a void of chaos.
The stories told through their music are further encapsulated by a combination of light, sound, stage theatrics, props, and more.
End Status has continued to refine their music and performance. Continuing to build upon an already cohesive foundation, built by its drummer (Junk) and guitarist (Chaos). Joining later would be The Butcher (Vox) and the bassist (Order).
Join them on their journey to create shows that do more than just play music. But create an experience that captivates it's audience, creating the illusion of being elsewhere in both time and space. A fantasy played out only through the duration of their shows.
