A few years ago, I was in the throes of creating and exhibiting sculptural books around the world. One afternoon, as I was taking a break from my artwork, the black baby grand in our living room caught my eye and I sat down. Not knowing how to play, I decided to improvise. The music somehow seemed to pour out, as if it had been bottled up for years.
Two years later, I am writing, singing, recording in New York City and performing.
I like to think of songwriting as an extension of the collage I practiced with my visual art - a layering of sounds, melodies, language, emotion, mood and meaning.
My soulful ballads range from serious to funny, moody & passionate to upbeat. Lyric driven and musically sophisticated, I hope my music evokes self discovery in the listener and resonates in one's heart and mind .
