"[Elder Mason]...appl[ies] the principles that guided classic rock greats like Pink Floyd and CSNY and combining their different approaches to "rock" music into a glorious, sorta trippy amalgamation of the best bits of each camp, from psychedelic rock guitar shredding to the medieval harmonies of CSNY's quietest folk ballads. If you're still not convinced, let it be known that Elder Mason's upcoming record, The Seclusionist speaks, was mixed by Scott Colburn, who's worked with artists like The Arcade Fire, Animal Collective, Feral Children and Hypatia Lake." - 8/20/08 - Seattle Weekly
"Elder Mason live is delightfully melodic and surprisingly eclectic. Check them out if you like: later Beatles, Pink Floyd." - 5/3/08

"Rock bands often cite iconic mega-stars like the Beatles and Pink Floyd as influences, then wind up sounding exactly like them. But Elder Mason manages to take the vintage folk harmonies of the protest-rock era, the trippy guitar riffage, and all that other stuff that made the '70s great, and combine those ingredients into a really modern psychedelic folk sound that pays tribute to popular bands who've come before, but without excessive imitation. Sometimes you can hear the Floyd. Sometimes you can hear the Neil Young. But more often you hear Elder Mason." - 9/29/08 - Seattle Weekly

Welcome from Elder Mason.
We have a constantly changing line-up, with four core members and a pool of keyboard players to choose from.
We get together to make music... Dense and lush, with blissful organs and raging fuzz guitars, all held together by bombastic drumming. It's equal parts backward-looking (Beatles, ELO, Pink Floyd) and forward-thinking (Wilco, Flaming Lips, Secret Machines).
Our first record, "The Seclusionist Speaks..." was mixed by Scott Colburn (Arcade Fire, Animal Collective, Feral Children) and released in early 2009. A track from it, "The Revival" was chosen by nadamucho.com, a local Seattle music and culture blog, for inclusion on their compilation "Songs from the Seattle Underground".
