Bio
Music Bio: Edward Yeo
I was self taught, initially and played in local rock bands, Stations and 4XY during the first half of the 1980's. Due to fatherhood responsibilities I purchased a synth and started composing music at home, to keep some musical presence in my life. During this period of the late 80's I recorded with Zirbel's Mental Insect, appearing on Skull Tracks and Two Headed Fly. I served a short stint with local alt rock band Animal Instinct in the mid 90's. I studied music, starting 1986 with harmony by Lee Armentrout and moving to jazz guitar lessons with George Allen. I studied next with Rob Curtis, who taught me jazz and classical guitar execution and technique including reading and writing music. I have continued to compose original works, the newest find outlet through my solo guitar playing. I also spent 3 intense years, in the mid 1990's in the Wright College jazz band headed by one of Chicago's brightest reed men and composers, Rich Corpolongo. During that period I also had the unique opportunity to spent jam night at Big Joe's, putting it together, amongst some of todays young jazz lions, namely guitarist Neal Alger, reedman and band leader Ted Hogarth, drummer Darin Scorrza and bassist alex Bendarky. I formed, with Dan Hanrahan, Bossa Norte a vocal/guitar duo that performed for two years in local clubs and is now a song writing unit. I perform solo jazz and classical music at local restaurants and coffee houses. My intention is to write and record music for Television plays and or film and travel the world with my guitar.
