Eden Rohatensky is a woman of many talents. She's an app designer, a web developer, a podcast host, and an event organizer. With so many positions, one would need an outlet to relive the stress of a busy work day. While her album is called Amateur, the lady is certainly no stranger to making music. Her other musical projects include Eden & Escrow and Orphan Mothers.
The album, which was recorded this week, was originally supposed to be an EP. That's the beauty of things, though. The unexpected growth of a project can lead to a more opulent outcome. Under the alias Eden the Cat, the singer bares her soul over the span of 9 tracks, from the sultry opener "Other Woman" to the spellbinding finale "Play Alone". Eden, with only an acoustic guitar in hand, recorded and mixed the album herself and made sure to give each track its own identity, including the haunting number "Ghost". The album as a whole could easily be the soundtrack for a love movie or a romantic teen drama, and the first single "Going for the Gold" is a track that should be pumped out on adult alternative radio right now.
For fans of Rachael Yamagata and Leona Naess, Amateur is an album that will certainly be the surprise hit of 2014. You can stream and purchase Eden's astounding release on her Bandcamp page. - EXAMINER.COM
