It’s abundantly clear straight out of the gates, that somebody has seriously annoyed this alt-rock Wrexham based four piece…seriously annoyed them. And judging from the vitriol fuelled “I’m going to put my fist through your face” goliath instrumentation and unhinged, yet totally in control vocal screamy screams that are happening…these aren’t folks you want to get on the grumpy side of. Occasionally it sounds like it’s threatening to slip into some sort of ugly nu-metal type…thing…BUT THANKFULLY it manages to pull back from the edge just when it looks like something sonically cringy is about to appear. There’s a particularly cool little bit that pops up around 2:13…weird feedback, heavier than gods beer belly and complete with a nifty little Smashing Pumpkin style lead line.
Pretty nifty album art as well right?

The kind of impression you get when seeing a band like Doppelgänger live is analogous to when you see a lot of the bands with the same temperament perform. Taking inspiration from bands like Refused, Reuben, The Fall Of Troy, Bastions and Biffy Clyro (when they’re at their most moshiest), they do wear their influences on their sleeves, but that is by no means to diminish them; it’s what they do with it that makes them so enjoyable. You can see the energy fly out them, and you can hear it in the production of their recorded work. Having dropped their first EP ‘Playground Songs’ back in 2012, the band return with a new single. A little bit more straight forward than their previous material, that does not mean that they have lost the meat off their bones.
This song has many elements to it; the flaying guitar around the 1:15 mark is tense as fuck. A band like Doppelgänger understand the quality of a mosh-heavy riff, implementing at least three separate head-banging breakdowns throughout. And due to the tip-top production, duel guitaring and their bad-ass amp setup (i’ve seen it), the fullness of their sound definitely isn’t an accident.

Doppelganger are one of the most promising Welsh rock bands to emerge for some time. This Wrexham based 4 piece band, spent 2012 steam rolling through the nation, creating lots of justified buzz on the alt/rock scene, for the exciting energy and power of their live shows. Formed in early 2012, this is a band not to be missed at the festival – for fans of explosive guitars! - Focus Wales

The Shrewsbury Fields Forever festival got off to a thumping start with thousands of revellers flocking to the opening night.
Festival-goers at the Shrewsbury Fields Festival held over the weekend at the West Mid Showground
Music fans from across the country descended on the West Mid Showground, off Berwick Road, last night.
The event is a three-day festival. Festival-goers left their wellies at home as the weather held off and international DJs such as Sonny Wharton and Herve got the Invasion dance arena bouncing.
Festival director Dene Edwards, 30, said the campsite had more than doubled in size since its debut show in 2011.

Mr Edwards said they were on course to smash last year’s 4,000 visitors with about 7,000 expected across the weekend.
He said: “The first night is a bit of a pre-party but it has been a fantastic reception with a lot of people travelling to be here.
“I’ve spoken to a lot of Scottish people in particular and those from the North West.
“We think up to 7,000 will walk through the doors over the three days which means this is another stepping stone towards our overall goal of getting 10,000 revellers here.”
He added: “We’re trying to make this something different for Shrewsbury and Shropshire as a whole and it’s great to see the festival growing year on year.”
There are about 60 acts on throughout the weekend including The Wombats, Ms Dynamite and Ocean Colour Scene as well as top comedians Mark Watson and Andrew Maxwell.
Vic Bury, 31, of Frankwell, said: “It is really exciting and the campsite is amazing.
“Tonight has been great but we’re mostly looking forward to The Wombats.”
Kelly Edwards, 22, of Sundorne, said: “This is actually my first ever festival. I’m really excited about the rest of the weekend.”
