Los Angeles native Dominique Toney makes her debut with a jazzy tune about sweet love in "Loving You's So Easy." In the song, Dominique narrates the story of falling in love with her dream guy as can be seen in her music video. Bio
Dominique Toney is a singer, songwriter, and actress from Los Angeles, CA. Her musical journey began at the age of 6 when she started playing piano at the acclaimed Colburn School of Music in Downtown Los Angeles. Ironically, it wasn’t until she was a senior at New York University that she learned she loved writing music. As the daughter of Kevin Toney, original member of the Grammy-nominated funk group “The Blackbyrds” and Phyllis Toney, wardrobe supervisor to such artists as Diana Ross, Paul McCartney, and Sting, Dominique was exposed to music at a very young age. Some favorite memories growing up include dancing in Paul McCartney’s 2005 concert at the Staples Center and sitting in on meetings with Berry Gordy at his home. As a senior in high school, she was the recipient of the NBC Diversity Scholarship, winning a summer-long mentorship with acclaimed casting directors in LA. The mentorship was fruitful - she auditioned for ABC Family's "Lincoln Heights", making it all the way to the final screen test.
Her journey had a temporary hiccup when at the age of 18 she discovered she had vocal nodules and would be required to get surgery. With her position at school in jeopardy, she quickly determined that she would do anything to continue her studies at NYU. She took a leave of absence from her Musical Theater program, went on vocal rest for 2 months, and got surgery that summer. Through patience and a team of vocal teachers and speech therapists, she was back to full health 8 months later.Year later, she has had the opportunity to perform at such venues as the House of Blues, Morongo Casino, Rockwood Music Hall, the Highline Ballroom, Yoshi’s Jazz Club, and Joe's Pub. Dominique's debut album “A Love Like Ours” was released on August 12th, 2014.
